I was reading that the reason they use so much profanity is because, under US defamation laws, it's perfectly ok to call someone who claims hypnotism can make your wang larger an asshole, but calling them a liar or fraud isn't.
Funny, huh? |
Penn discussed that at one of "the Amazing Meetings." It's simply not true, as the show's legal folks informed him. He was using that as a comedic device in one show. |

| It is a great show indeed. My personal favorite was the one on recycling. That one is certainly not obvious. |

| One of those shows that you can't get enough of at first, but after many episodes you realize that thy are just spinning their own web of crappola. It's a good show to get an alternative perspective. usually good info-tainment. |

But but... you're... mormon!
I tease. I've said it before and I'll say it again, mormons are simply the most christian people I've ever met. And I use christian in its positive meaning. |

| i liked the penn and teller one on the bible, but unfortunately, its just preaching to the choir, after he chases away the believers with his blasphemy and profanity. the people who need to hear it will turn off the program the minute he refers to it as the "goddamn bible" |

You won't be after they do their "Bullshit" episode on Joseph Smith. |

They've already done their bit on religion in general, at the amazing meetings. They have their opinions and I have mine. Unlike you, I can be polite with my disagreement with another person. |

Good point!
Acccording to the "Pearl of Great Price", there's a cutoff point that allows only the very politest to enter heaven. H-e-double toothpicks -- I don't think I'll make it! |

I think it's quite an entertaining show even if it does state the obvious sometimes. Penn's narrative style is often amusing with the little one-liners and put-downs.
The program is called "Bullshit" but a more appropriate title would be "Mental American Nut-jobs", as the show tends to showcase the wackier side of the country. |

| It's a one-sided show. They seem to knock down a lot of straw men without seriously probing issues. Still, unbiased argument are rather boring. |
