I consider myself an Executive Geek. Yes, I like geeky things, but I feel there are limits to how much you should like those things.

I feel the Executive Geek is the sort who likes Star Trek, but doesn't care that the new movie won't have William Shatner playing Kirk.

The Executive Geek thinks grown men collecting toys/ action figures/ dolls is something... questionable

The Executive Geek thinks Penny Arcade, Shortpacked, and XKCD are really retarded and would never quote them.

The Executive Geek thinks that The Onion is just kinda funny.

The Executive Geek does not bullshit on messageboards about how much they can dead-lift, how much ass they get, and the superiority of their educational background.

The Executive Geek knows that video games are a pass time, not a lifestyle.

The Executive Geek may go to cons, but they will stay the hell away from those jerks dressed up as Boba Fett.

These are just some of the ways we separate ourselves from our embarrassing fanboy peers.

So, are you an Executive Level Geek? A drooling fanboy? Or in denial about yourself?

By your definations, I'd be an executive geek too.

I like computer games, but don't love them.

I like sci-fi, but don't obsess about Starwars/Bladerunner/Startrek.

I could enjoy myself at a Starwars convention, but I could also enjoy myself at a hardcore punk gig.

I do enjoy tweaking computers, but also play a mean blues/rock guitar.

Basically, I don't really go into anything thinking is this geeky or cool. Anything goes.

The most geeky thing I've been doing recently is scouring Youtube to watch lame 'set-up for youtube' fights between 15 year old kids, invariably called 'Brad' 'Scott' 'Josh' and 'Chris', in mid-west hick towns. There's millions of them on Youtube. Those kids sure are bored.

labels bah! Why do we have to label everyone including ourselves? What is so frightening about that which we can't categorize?

I'm definitely a geek. I guess leaning towards executive, but it sounds more like a description of yourself rather than a general category.

I think the main part of being a geek is watching women through binoculars.

According to your definition of executive I'm mid way.

1. I don't obsess, but switching actors is always lame. Of course I care.

2. Yes, questionable.

3. Nope. They're all hit and miss but Penny Arcade is sometimes very funny and xkcd is frequently brilliant. (warning, language)

4. Again, hit and miss, but frequently brilliant. (massive language)

5. Only about the superiority of my education, and only when someone questions my utter infallibility. Wink

6. Attempt to keep it that way.

7. Don't go to conventions but if I did I might dress up; it would be kinda fun.

There's so much of this on Dave's. Regular posters talking about how many millions of girls they sleep with. It always seems suspicious to me that they still have so much time and inclination to post on message boards if this were really the case. I think the real studs out there don't need to brag about it on the internetz.

I don't know what to make of it but last night I was watching Return of the Jedi and was shocked at the ending. I'm not usually that bothered about the newer ones or the older ones but I remember the original being this:

All happy and cheery and the like. Last night it got to the end of the film and this popped up:

To say I was a little peed off was a little bit of a understatement.

I feel I'm sliding into sensible slacks and corrective footwear!

^ You've hit a nerve there with the hard-core Starwars fans. They hate the way George Lucus has messed about with the old Starwars movies.

I'm not sure about now, but there was a time when you couldn't buy any of the three old films in their original form...... Evil or Very Mad I want to watch it the way it was when I was 10!!

hey TWIG, when did you last have a girlfriend?

Do you draw more pictures of girls than you sleep with ?
then you are not a fabulon glamour boy "Executive Geek", your new catagory is Sad GeekTM

the whole geek thing is about a sublimated saddo life: star trek, video games(what are they?),lists,photography,tech-fetish etc instead of sex with real live girls(without paying)

Last night, after she cooked a kick a** dinner. Korean woman cook in many ways. The younger ones tend to have an attitude. but if you don't think 30 is grandmotherly, go there. Get some rest and take your vitamins first, though. Ow. Hurts to walk today. But it's a good hurt. The only cost was in the physical energy department.
