OK, I am returning to Korea. Well, I was planning to but I find out that my previous boss told immigration that I pulled a runner a year ago and that I am a criminal. I did neither of these things by the boss broke the law many times by holding my passport, stealing my degree, not paying me OT, taking money out of my pay. The list is endless but at the end of the day it is their word against mine.

Apparently (and I only find this out today) Immigration have told my new employer whatever lies my previous boss told them about me and they may now not want me to be employed there. My new school are quite good and are in dire need of a new teacher but now they 'may not want me'.

Any idea what will happen or are they just bluffing or what? I have just resigned my job here at home and now am going to be jobless both here and in Korea if this happens.

Has this happened to anyone? Any kind words of advice?

I am not having a good day.

Next time you're overseas, DON'T LET YOUR BOSS GET AWAY WITH STEALING YOUR PASSPORT! By doing so last time, you proved to him that you're a patsy and he used to that to the full at Immigration.

It was my first time in Korea and they said they needed it to get my ARC

I was stupid I know. Believe me I know. My previous boss was evil beyond belief and corrupt as hell even by Korean standards.

Has immigration refused you a visa?
Or are you just worried the new boss won't be there to pick you up at the airport?

Explain the situation to your new employer, tell them how nasty your old boss was and all the illegal things he did to you. If they don't believe you, well it's their loss and is probably a sign that they'll never trust you which would mean a not too healthy working environment.

When you get here go to immigration and get them to remove these lies from your record.

If you do lose the job you can always try a new district or public school.

No, I am wondering if they will refuse me and what my pig of an ex boss actually said to immigration last year about me. Being told by my new school who have waited for me whilst I jump through hoops with all these stupid new visa regulations that they may not want to employ me because immigration told them that my ex boss said I was a criminal is a bit worrying. Yes, the word 'criminal' was used....

Anyone else out there had as much bad luck as I have had?

and whilst I am having a rant I will tell you what else my ex pig of a school did to me. Aside from holding my passport they withheld all this money from my pay each month for no reason and never gave receipts, they stole my university degree, my pay was ALWAYS late, they came into my apartment to snoop when i wasn't around, forced me to work overtime and never paid me for it, didn't pay my airfare, didn't pay my pension, withheld tax from me but i doubt they ever paid that either. I was constantly told that I was useless and unprofessional by these low life losers....i was never absent, always did my work and i don't even drink!

indeed, my first pay was actually negative 165 000 won!

feel better for getting that off my chest.............

How can I get Immigration to remove this from my record? It's my word against the ex bosses psycho lies.

Don't sweat it if/until you do get denied for your visa. If immigration has your stuff then you will know by next Wednesday (if not sooner) one way or the other.

Lots of people have pulled runners and never had any problem landing a new job here again.

I'm guessing your paranoia got you into trouble at your old job, and I think it's going to be trouble for you in the future.
