Big thumbs way, way up. Just finished my sandwich and I'm already planning on going back Friday.

I left my umbrella there and the guy behind the counter chased me down through the Hongdae campus to give it back to me.

This guy deserves to do well with this shop, and I would love to see this site get some press for having foreigner community rally to give this guy a big boost. Win-win.

What kills me is that everything on the menu is in English. There was no HanGul on the menu behind the counter when I went there both times. I wonder who he is catering to. The sandwich I had was good, really good. I wish him luck.

And everything is spelled CORRECTLY! Shocked

They've got take-away menus that have both on them. I handed them out to all the teachers in my school.

I'll check it out, thanks for the heads up. We should have an official recommendations thread for stuff like this.

I think he fights on his off time from managing the sandwich business. Both the guys there are pretty ripped and the computer there has some UFC champion fighter on the desktop.

I was there this afternoon-I had a larger meal for dinner, so I had the ham and cheese with extra tomato and onion

strawberry smoothie is pretty good-a bit sweeter tasting than I am used to.

Buddy is ripped-he asked me how I heard of the place as I asked him about hours, and I mentioned Dave's Cafe-he knows the OP is advertising for him

It sounds like everyone has been satisfied thus far, there have been no negative comments from people who have visited the shop.

What sets it apart? Does it have much different meats besides salami? Do they have stuff that's hard or impossible to get in Korea such as head cheese? Is the cheese of an exceptional quality?

Subway has been pretty decent thus far in Korea so what makes this place that much better?

grabbed a couple of sandwiches from there tonight on what turned into a roundabout kind of way home. heading a few bus stops in the wrong direction was well worth it. props to the op for bringing the place to our attention! to all the doubters, definitely worth it! i just wish it was in the general direction of my home so i could make it over more often.

None of the above. However, the guys seem to have put it all together like no other shop I've been to in Korea has. Just a great sandwich at a great price, made to order without any questions or fuss.

I've been going to the same Subway once or twice a week for over 2 years now, and they still point at the tomatoes on the picture of the sandwich when I ask them repeatedly to not put tomatoes on my club.

I have a feeling that if I walk into this joint again the guy is going to know that I don't like tomatoes.

The place is a no frills, bare bones joint that does one thing and does it well.

sorry but the meat looks like any you can buy at the local supermart, way too much lettuce and the cheese is processed wrapped shit right? doesn't do that much for me i'm afraid.

You take what you can get. In the land of rice and kimchee, its refreshing not to see potato salad on a ham sandwich.

I live so close to there it isn't even funny. I was there yesterday. The place is good. I could get really lazy in my Kitchen and have an excuse to go there more than once per week. This could be bad.

huge chunks of beautiful meat. the chicken breast was actually chunks of chicken breast, not sliced.
good cheese.
good ranch and mayo.
he does exactly what you ask him to do.
no frills.
just awesome sandwiches. and so cheap.
can't believe he delivers just one sandwich.
i kinda felt guilty...but it was worth it.
my 2 cents, i recommend it

i got a few pm's asking where this place is and i realized that i wrote the wrong directions in the original post.

when you get out of sangsu exit 4, turn left and walk straight for 100 meters and turn right at Smart. walk for a bout 50 meters and Sandwich King is on your left. if you have any trouble finding the place, call them. the owner will come out and show you where it is from exit 4. the phone number is 02-3141-1419 and ask for Won-Woo. or just get it delivered if your in the hongdae area:D

sorry for any inconvenience from my initial directions.

one more thing, yes i do know the owner. he's doesn't compete in mma, but enjoys watching it. he was my trainer at my previous gym. good guy.
