It's interesting that the UK doesn't require record checks from immigrant workers' home countries for working airside at airports.
We, however, were given little notice to get checks from our countires or f*ck off.
This quote would be funny if it wasn't so indicative of complacency and incompitenece.
"The government says it would simply take too long and be too complex to check criminal records from abroad. "
