|
|
I'm starting to get tired of singing the same songs when we go out to 노래방. I've come to realize that choosing the right song to set the mood is an art form, and is not always based on personal favorites.
Here are some songs that are guaranteed to go over well with your Korean colleagues:
*I've Been Away Too Long (best to save this one til the end!)
*Uptown Girl
and of course...
*Let it be
*My Way
and just about any Carpenters song (but "Top of the World" seems to be the most popular)!
Can you guys recommend some good songs to set the mood for drunken fun? Which songs have worked well with your karaoke outings? |

the ONLY song I can never be drunk enough to sing. I'd have to pass out first, and be controlled by electric shocks to take part. There is something HORRIBLE about a group of drunk people singing My Way. It just smacks of 3AM and I'm a loser.
On another note what song has the chorus "I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?" |

Does anyone know who sings the song in the Geico commercial? The one where the caveman guy is in the airport walking on a escalator. I want to try that one out too! |

Born to be Wild is a great opener. The 노래방s have recently added Ring of Fire to their repertoire. It's the first and only song they have that's easily within my vocal range. |

Everyone loves singing this song, even if they'd never admit it soberly. Perfect for a drunken assault on a noraebong. |

Any Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Beatles, Rolling Stones...
Creep is fun, and a good excuse to get a random k-hottie to help out with the high notes. |

The ones in Korea aren't that bad all the same...at least compared to back home in my experience anyway. I've fond memories of roaring out master of puppets with my director on a night out when I first got here. Bloody difficult one though^^ |

I had a friend who, upon his first visit to a noraebang to celebrate someones birthday, decided that I should sing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' with him.
I'd love to sing exciting songs to pump the mood, but I find most quite difficult to sing. I stick to ones that suit my vocal range better, such as:
Words - Bee Gees
Father and Son - Cat Stevens / Boyzone
Fields of Gold - Sting
When You Say Nothing At All - Ronan Keating
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
Wake Me Up When September Ends - Green Day
Maria - Blondie
I much prefer going to noraebangs (or 'videoke as it's called) in the Philippines as they generally have a much more comprehensive song list. |
