Don't forget the bread and pastries. Yummy!

Also British aristocracy spoke French for a very long time because English was the language of the common people.

Also, what is wrong with avoiding war? Especially if the war is illegal and based on blatant lies.

My biggest love of France.

"J'ai faim. Je vais aller manger."

"A qu'elle heure retournez vous?"

"Quand je suis fini mon repas."

Or the awesomely silly 'Banlieu 13...'

Good stuff, good stuff. Who says there's no upside to having massive numbers of unemployed and disaffected yout in your cities? Eventually they'll invent something good. Honestly, this is the best urban sport since grand theft auto and drive by shootings. And mostly only the perp gets hurt!

PS if you wanted to download that last one, btw, it's on isohunt listed under the english title of district b13. Not that i'd ever approve of or assist in intellectual property theft, mind you.

Very much like Dutch or Danish, I'd imagine, but I fail to see how vulgar follows. Otherwise, your posts are excellent.

I meant vulgar mainly in the linguistic sense (as French is a vulgar form of Latin), but "off" as in a backwater frontier dialect of German. French is a more refined language (imo) making up a very important body of world literature, so it's only beneficial to have so many French words in our lexicon.

I think it's beneficial only as long as we keep studying Latin or related languages. There are a lot of words now that make a lot less sense now than before due to the lack of Latin knowledge (puerile, constitution, moribund, cursive, dolor, etc.). This can be solved with a return to Latin as-is, through a modified Latin like Latino sine Flexione, through another similar IAL like Ido, or through changing the words back to Germanic forms (something like groundlaw for constitution for example).

All I know is that being a native English speaker makes learning French easier. Can't comment on German much as I know only a limited amount (I just studied Old English a bit in uni), but surely it's much easier for us to learn that too (similar verb structures; weak + strong etc.). At the same time I've heard it's damn hard for Germans to learn French, and vice versa. English is a kind of a screwed up hybrid that falls in the middle, but that's good imo, as we benefit very much from having elements of both. I still really want to learn German (much of the literature I read is translated German) and learning French (and basic Latin) improved my English ability considerably. Gaining proficiency in either language enhances one's understanding of English, and helps with academic writing, building up your vocabulary etc.

I didn't say that the French didn't sacrifice. I just said that they needed to be bailed out in the end.

Yeah, well that's easy for you to say, as you didn't have to experience blitzkrieg first hand on the ground. At the outset the Germans could not be beat in that regard, and devastated every country they attacked. Don't forget that the British expeditionary force had to retreat as well. Give the Brits credit for withstanding the air blitz, but without that ocean in between, they'd have had no chance of not being occupied either. It took two fronts (Russia) and a naval blockade to bring them down after years of intense conflict. The French were right next door, and had no chance.

I also wasn't discussing whether the coalition (NOT exclusively U.S.) involvement in Iraq is ill-advised. I only stated that France refused to help from the outset. It's a statement of fact.

YSo what? Tthey were right to do so, so your point is null. Half of the U.S. strongly disagreed too. Iraq was completely ill-conceived, and benefited nobody, least of all ourselves. The French do have NATO troops in Afghanistan though, which you failed to point out.

The French are a lot like Koreans, actually, in their ubernationalism.

No, that's just silly, they're nothing like Koreans. They're a lot like Americans though (and I've lived in France). The more 'ubernationalistic' ones sound a lot like you, actually (and I take it you're Southern?).

We have the same data and are interpreting them differently.

Where are you from again?

Though the French are barstards they do have their redeeming features.

I call upon all true hearted Englishman (and let's bring the Scots, why not?) to launch a full scale invasion of France. The cheese eating surrender monkeys will not be expecting it. Can the French stand up against an onslaught of chav scum rat people?

After our conquest of France we will launch a full scale breeding program. We will breed French women with English men to create a race or celestial super humans. Then we will breed French Men with English Women to create a race of Goblin-Men to fight our wars for us.

That just makes them barstards with redeeming qualities. They're still barstards.

I object to your comment on the Scots. Those haggis-eating hairy folk are the salt of the earth.

Absolutely agree with the breeding program. French(W)+English(M)=superior race. English(W)+French(M)=drone.

Yes.

How about this...

American(M)+Scottish(F)-Frenchanythingatall=thebestthereverwas.

Now THERE'S an equation!

First French language is grand.. Its amazing. Unlike German which is the universal throat clearing language. 1 in 4 words in English is french.

The French have been fighting wars longer then most European nations are in existance.

Napoleon kicked ass yes eventually he got defeated. One thing that you guys realy fail to mention is the Napoleonic code which imho is the foundation to Human rights.

Also no matter how many times they got invaded they did manage to regain their freedom.

Scottish? hahah don't make me laugh.. If you accuse the French of being surrender monkeys you are the biggest hipocrite of all. Last time I checked there is NO nation on Earth called Scottland? You guys got your ass handed by a bunch of Normans/Saxons.

Also Scottish people are very crude, and vulgar in my expierience with dealing with them. I can go on raging on the Scotts but there is no point.

Maybe you should replace Scottish in your equation with Irish.. At least they fought back and at least have a Country. Heck you can use practicaly any European race in that equation to trump the Scottish bit.

I apologize for being a dick against the Scotts but you really needed to be put in your place. You seem like an arogant/ignorant American/Scott.

Americans get of your high horse as well, you have been steadily geting your assed kicked for a long time.

I do admit you are kicking ass in Iraq, militarily speaking low casualties over the span of this occupation trump your last effort which was Vietnam.. Economicaly speaking its a friggen disaster.

Where are you from?

You can't be English as you lack the ability to take things with a pinch of salt.

I love the Irish to bits but try telling the Scots that the Irish are harder...

For gods sake we were having a laugh. There is no real animosity these days between the French and the British. It just exists as a joke now. We fought side by side in WW2.

You come across as far more ignorant and arrogant and I call you out for being a troll.
