|
|
I know there are a lot of people on this board who like to weight train and am hoping we can learn something from each other by everyone sharing their favorite technique. Here's mine:
25 Rep Sets
I do this for every workout for two weeks every six months or so. I use a weight which I normally get between 8-12 reps with and instead do 25 reps by taking short breaks as necessary. After 25, I take a 2 minute break and do it again. I do this for 3-4 exercises.
For example: Quads. Squat 8 reps with 'x' amount of weight. Take 5-10 deep breaths and do 6 more, followed by a few more deep breaths. Then another 6, 3 and 2 for a total of 25.
Take a two minute break, then do another set of this with the same weight. This one will be especially difficult.
Then do the same for 2-3 more exercises.
I've also had luck doing these for bodyweight exercises, like pullups and dips. Usually for these though I use the assist machine the second set because by the time I do the first set of 25 pullups or dips I'm too spent to do my full bodyweight the second. |

My preferred technique initiates from a seated position.
Firmly grasp the weight, with the thumb on top.
Place the other hand over the thumb.
Hold 1, 2, 3.
Grasp and twist.
While maintaining an upright posture,
In a steady motion, curl and bring weight to face level.
Drink.
Repeat until upright posture no longer possible.
For best results, alternate hands. |

Breathing squats work well for gaining strength while losing fat. Do a set of twenty full-range-of-motion squats while taking one breath for the first five, two breaths for the second five, three for the third and then as many as you need to finish the twenty. Select a weight you can only just manage. |

Wait until I've read just about the entire internet , ensure that there's nothing good on T.V , pick up weghts.....making some token jerky fit like movements. At the first sign of unpleasantness consider if it's worth it. Stop. |

If youre guns need a boost try three sets of progressive 21's.
21s basically break down a full barbell curl into three steps.
1. chest to waist-7 reps
2.thighs to waist-7 reps
3. full curl-7 reps
Let the burn begin. Increase weight 10kg for three sets.
This is good for getting the biceps to peak.
Do at the end of your arm routines. |
