Oh, wah.

Been there since the dawn of time.

The people working in that market are more tragic.

All the dogs in cages. Yeah, been there. Nothing you can do about that. They are part of the food chain here.

Was there a really big brown and white English Springer Spaniel sitting up on top of one of the cages, chained to the wall? I was there three times this past winter and he was there each time. Such a kind and gentle dog he was. I was so tempted to snag him the third time. He was looking at me with this "get me the *beep* out of here RIGHT NOW" kind of look. From inside the building, you could hear a dog screaming in pain. Sounded like a child being tortured. The spaniel just stared at me with this look in his eyes like he was saying "you have no idea man, try as hard as you may, you have no idea what life we dogs live here." Then some rotten old adjussi comes running out and starts pushing me away. *beep* that place.

You just don't get it, do you? It's a part of their culture, see? We might find a dog cute, heck, they might find a dog cute, but they have a right to enjoy sucking the meat off the bones of a tasty spaniel or dobberman pincher. Plus, they don't eat pets. They eat dumb dogs, see? I just love it when Westerners come to another person's country and judge Asians for eating puppies, or shark fin soup, or, heck, even for being cannibals in some tribes in Borneo. If you don't like it, go back to where you came from. There are a lot of people in Korea and in Asia who just are not interested in joining the world community of the 20th century, let alone the 21st century. That is their right. And I say if they want to go back to burying a cheating wife in a hole up to her neck and allowing passers by to take a swip at her still live corpse with a knife, then that is what they should do. It's not our culture, it's theirs, see?

again, if you don't like pedo's getting passports, dog pie, shark fin sandwiches, or whacking head's of cheating women, go home. Maybe Korea isn't for you.

For as long as this argument will go on, this reason for being against it will be valid. On the whole the objection to eating dogs is not that we think they're cute and fluffy and it's wrong to kill them. Because, yes yes yes lambs are cute and fluffy too. Whatever.
Now whereas the agriculture industry favours killing them as fast as possible to make as much money in as short a time as possible, your Korean dog meat traders do not. YES there are huge flaws in slaughterhouses back home. HUGE. But it's not the intention of that industry to burn, drown, skill alive, or beat the animals for as long as possible. If that was being allowed (hell, legalised now) to even the ugliest old cow you've ever seen, on a daily basis, in massive numbers, for decades, you can bet your ass there'd be the same uproar.

It's lazy and it's ignorant to compare the two.

Now, carry on, with the umpteenth thread about this, trying to prove how culturally aware you all are

^ So as long as they were humanely killed and treated you would be happy with that?

Do you just follow me around, or something?

And, in answer, if indeed the dog meat industry did not include any of the numerous tortue tactics in order to get the meat in the shape they want it, my problems with it would drastically decrease.
However.
Since the entire point of the dog meat industry is to get the "health benefits" provided from the adrenaline in the meat, released during aforementioned torture techiniques, your question becomes somewhat meaningless.

Nothing "happy" about it. But personally I would have fewer problems with it.

No.

I read the thread. You were the last person to post, I found it an interesting post and posed a question to you.

You are a very angry lady aren't you with a rather high opinion of herself.

You should be quite happy with the dog meat industry in Thailand then where the dogs are killed quite humanely and quickly.
