I was at funeral tonight and I kept bowing to people. And then at a job interview, I bowed several times to my prospective employer (even though he was a whitey).

When I was back home for the summer for a few weeks, I did the head bow thing. Kind of embarrasing when they look at me with the WTF look.

I did it to a bunch of whiteys at the wolfhound when i asked one dude for a light. They all laughed and said "dude...do you realise you just bowed to us" i didn't really, it's just a natural thing now.

Did you wear slippers into the office? Hand over a white envelope stuffed with bills to the bereaved family? Offer the prospective employer a kick-back if they gave you the job? Spit in the street and shove your way on to the bus when going to the interview?

In a software office shoes are generally considered too dressy. Bare feet are preferred.

Your questions are the definition of non-sequitur. I'm glad you're reconsidering your ability to ask insightful or amusing questions. It's best for you.

I find I'm able to resist the urge to bow, but one thing I still do when in Canada is accept money with two hands and give it with my left hand under my right forearm. I know I shouldn't but I can't get over how impolite it feels to do it otherwise.

Yes, I bow. It has become automatic.
Some Korean has crept up in my conversations.
I also take off my shoes when I enter some ones house.

I can't bring myself to put toilet paper on the table. Napkins are still
what I use.

It really depends. I was raised a shoe taker offer. Some people are raised shoe leaver oners. I see nothing wrong with either.

It didn't become an issue for me once I stepped foot in New York. I knew I was in the US and it didn't even cross my mind. But...I did find a Korean grocery down the street from my Mom's house and was excited and bowed to the guy that owned it and said hello to him in Korean, asked if he had black bean tea... He was amazed and started speaking to me in Korean very quickly and gave me a free container of Bacchus-D drink!! Very Happy

The kind that doesn't live in squalor. The kind that ain't white trash. The kind that would punch someone for smoking in their house. The kind that cleans their house from time to time.
