Dazzling special effects and it stays true to the cartoon. Very Happy

Sprytle and Chim-Chim steal the movie!

Oh gawd, it sucked.

My wife begged to leave, and I almost did, but it gets better toward the end.

I have to laugh that to cover up a shitty movie, fans of speedracer have to cry, "oh, it stays true to the comic."

Sorry Wylie, your a good person, but this movie sucked rocks.

Maybe this is a love/hate kind of movie.

Did you ever see the cartoon?

Yes, if you mean the 70s version. It was cool in the 70s. I'll check the movie out when I'm emotionally ready to have my childhood memories of Speed Racer sullied.

No, but his other film from that year (2007) is excellent:

When I first saw the trailer, the movie "Dick Tracy" immediately came to mind. That movie sucked ballz, so I can only assume that this one will follow suit.

I grew up on Speed Racer.
There was once a riot on the school bus one afternoon when a substitute driver made a wrong turn, and made us late getting home to watch it.

I was looking forward to the movie until I saw this interview:

Hirsch on Dave Letterman

This kid has zero personality. Apparently girls find him sexy, though.

He was great in Alpha Dog, and Into the Wild wasn't that bad.

Still, I don't hold out any hope for Speed Racer. Everything I've seen of it leads me to believe it will follow the same path as all other cartoon movie remakes.

Rocky and Bullwinkle, Scooby Doo, Inspector Gadget etc etc....

The only one of the genre that ever worked was Josie and the PussyCats and only because it went miles off from the cartoon.

One of his first movies was 'The Girl Next Door' with that chick who played Jack Bauer's daughter. Totally blows.

Into the Wild was halfway decent, earning Academy Award nods.

Anyone know where to see this movie in IMAX? Iron Man seems to be filling up IMAX screens around Korea this week.

Definitely check out at least the first two episodes of the animated series before going in blind.
