If there is anybody travelling to Phils who might be stopping into a bookstore during their stay, I have a favor to ask. There is a Filippino author F Sionil Jose (I think I am spelling it correctly) and I fell in love with his books. Unfortunately they were in a package that disappeared somewhere between Taiwan and Korea, and I am looking to replace them.
So, basically, if you have some room in your bag, or don't mind dropping them in the mail, I would be your new best friend if you can find them. I know they are available in really cheap paperback versions, that cost about 1000 won each (that was a few years ago...). I know he has written many, many books, but I am happy with any or all of them. I could be more specific about titles if you want, but I cannot remember off the top of my head.
I am happy to reimburse you for any expenses and the cost of the books, or, if you prefer, we could work out a swap, if you need anything reasonable in the US, as I am going for a week at the end of June. Anybody who can help me, or who knows a way to get these damn books, PM me. Thanks!

Have you tried National Bookstore?
http://www.nationalbookstore.com.ph/
Oh, and the exchange rates aren't as good as they used to be so they will cost more.
(before: p55 = $1. Now: p40=$1.) |
