| I have 5.8 mil won in the bank. I should have more, but I spent like crazy when I first came here and still spurge sometimes on the weekends when I start drinking. |

| It's alright. I think if you can save 5 mill or so a year it's pretty cool. Korea should be enjoyed because you'll be working for 'the man' plenty when you get home. |

| This post sounded like something from ol' fromtheuk. Unless you're seriously debt-ridden, saving 12+ a year should be doable. I saved 15 my first year, and 30+ last year. This year I'm clearing some more debt so I'm hoping to save close to 40. |

I have 3.1 and I've been here since March 1st, so thats not too bad considering you've been pissing it up. |

If you continue at this rate, you will have 12.4 by the time you have been in Korea as long as kentucker4. That's more than twice as much money. |

| I've got $500 saved after 2 paydays...but I also send home 1 million to pay on some loans, so I'm not too bummed out by my lack of savings yet |

Don't forget your last month is huge, especially if you leave the country. You'll have not only your last months pay in full, but also your bonus and pension. That should roughly add to 3 full paychecks. Even if you don't save another dime for your final 5 months, adding your last month to your 5.8 would bring over 11 million, or hopefully 12 or 13 if you are paid well. |

| Putting money on loans is NOT money lost or money spent. It's good to do for many reasons. |

I'm gonna try to save 1.5 mil a month for the remainder of my contract (just over six months). After tax, pension, health, utils, phone, gym, that leaves about 400K for food, shopping, and the ocassional beer. I cook at home, take lunch to work, and seldom eat out, so I don't need a lot of money for food.
Of course if I go to Seoul, I'll blow my monthly allowance in a weekend |
