Nothing is confirmed yet. Nobody has asked me yet to work extra hours. During our Friday work meeting, which is all in Korean, a coworker translated a little part for me when my boss mentioned make-up classes for the holiday today (Buddha's birthday). Apparently some parents complained that this month has too many holidays and my boss wants to have make-up classes for their kids.
I don't know where they're going to fit into the schedule. My regular work week is 30 teaching hours. Since there is a holiday, that makes my limit 24 teaching hours (4/5 * 30) before I go into over time, right? I don't know for sure if they're going to ask me to work extra, but I really have no desire. |

I loved this part:

Yeah sure, of course the hagwan's can control how many holidays there are! The parent's aren't complaining. Hagwan owners just hate holidays. They view them as lost money because they still have to pay you for not working.
If they do ask you to do make up classes, before you answer, count your hours. If you are over your contracted hours, tell them you will need to be paid. It is not your fault there were two holidays this month.

Yeah I should have been clearer. When I said I really have no desire, what I meant was that I'm going to tell my boss no way.
From a logical perspective, there is no way that the occurrence of a holiday should effect my schedule. On the other hand, from a Korean perspective.... |

... from a Korean perspective you're ripe for the picking.
"Repeat after me"... "No."
"No."
"Very good"... again... "No."
"No."
"Excellent... are you starting to see a pattern here?"
"Huh?"
"Ok, one more time... "No."
