I sent my things off to the nearest Consulate last Friday. I was just reading through the visa regulations and I came across this.
* Please be advised that visas for teaching foreign languages usually take three to four weeks from the date of application. However, approval can take less or more time in some cases. Therefore, travel arrangements should not be made until the date of visa issue from the consulate has been confirmed. Please also note that if you enter Korea before visa is approved, then it would be considered as the cancellation of your visa application.
Is this true for an E2 Visa? It honestly can't be. How many God damn hoops must a person go through to get one of these visas these days? |

| Honestly that is the first time I have ever heard about this. It should take 1 or 2 weeks max. But they have tighten the regulations only a few months ago, so maybe that is the reason for the longer processing time. |

Sorry for the strong language, but "For FUCKS sake!' I got an E2 visa last year and it didn't take between three to four weeks. |

| The total visa processing time is around the 2-3 week timeframe ... But you also need to remember that the bulk of that time is the 10-14 days that Korean Immigration take to go through the first half of the process and issue the visa issuance number after the school takes the documents to immigration .. Then there is the 3-5 days or so that it takes the consulate in your country to do what they have to do |

Wait are you saying that getting the Visa number from Korea is included in this process? I already sent that to my nearest consulate last friday. |

The consulate is just covering their ass because they don't know how the regs. may change tomorrow. In fact, they probably don't know 'today's' regulations.  |

I just thought of something. If getting the visa take three to four weeks. How can someone enter Korea if you need to submit your passport to get the visa? How can they enter the country without a passport? I think that I over-reacted. But still...I just don't know, things have certainly gotten harder with the new regualtions.[/i] |

| No worry... the K-cable guys ran the coax from the satellite dish through the window channel instead of drilling a hole ... now I have a 1/4'" gap. |

Pretty much this exactly:I asked around about the criminal check--Hawaii, San Fran, L.A., and Seattle consulates--they all gave different answers. |
