I'm currently here on a 30-day visa waiver (I'm American) that was extended to 90 days, and I'm considering leaving the country for a day and coming back in on a visa waiver for a second time (and then possibly extending it to 90 days again) so that I'm better able and have more time to take care of some personal matters. Does anyone have any experience doing this or know how much of a problem it might be? Is it likely that I will be held up at the airport and/or when I try to extend again or does this type of thing happen often enough that they won't pay any attention to me? Thanks to anyone who can give me some insight into what kind of situation I'm looking at there. |

No problem returning... you might have to justify your reasons for the 2nd extension when you apply for it. |

Great, thanks for the quick response. If they ask, will they most likely just want a quick verbal explanation or might the process be more extensive? Also, do you think applying for a C-3 while I'm out of the country would be a better idea in this situation? |

Either would work. If they ask, they will just want to ensure that you are NOT working illegally to sustain your 2nd extended stay here. |
