So tell us about your gifts this year. I know Teacher's Day hasn't passed yet, so I will bump this thread again real soon.

So far I've received a cough candy. But Teacher's Day is tomorrow, so we'll see...

Personally, I love cards -- they're best presents. Though chocolate isn't bad either... Wink

Haha, the same thing crossed my mind - but I voted "a gift" because I got one early. If we teach a student MWF they might give it to us a day early as happened iwth me. (An herbal tea infuser set. Hmm.)

My first year in Seoul I taught in posh Abkujeong, the sones and daughters of high-ranking chaebol execs and the like. Know what I got on Teacher's Day? Nada, zilch, sip. A few years later, in a struggling lower-middle class suburb community? Theater tickets, whiskey (Yeah, that's what I'M talkin' 'bout!) socks, candy, soap ... I needed to two days to carry it all home from work.

Go figure.

Just walked in and was handed a small basket of carnation flowers. Someone told me it's from the parents...

I got 2 carnations.

The Academy is taking 200 plus teachers out for lunch today. Afterwards they will be having a draw to give away prizes. Last year the prizes were stuff as grand as a digital camera or an MP3 player, through to a clothes iron, pots and pans set, all the way down to a pair of socks and chopsticks.

Then tomorrow night I am taking my team out for dinner and drinks on the company card. So, over all it will be a good teachers day. We will see what the kids bring in today.

I just got a bottle of juice and a card from a student that says 'you teach a student with ardor' and that 'there will be no one who is harder than you'.

Now I just got a 'YANGJISA' notebook with a little Statue of Liberty on the front that says:

STATUE OF LIBERTY
Travel, in the younger sort, is a part of education
; in the elder, a part of experience.
