Microsoft�s WorldWide Telescope Released

Microsoft has released its highly anticipated Worldwide Telescope software, which can be used by astronomers and non-astronomers alike to explore the heavens with a desktop client akin to Google Earth.

And seeing as i know quite a few of you enjoy staring into space and would like a closer look at uranus, you can download it here........

Some pretty steep system requirements just to look at Uranus.

~ Microsoft� XP SP2 (minimum), Windows� Vista� (recommended)
~ PC with Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster, recommended
~ 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM; 2 GB RAM recommended
~ 3D accelerated card with 128 megabytes (MB) RAM; discrete graphics card with dedicated 256-MB VRAM recommended for higher performance
~ 1 GB of available hard disk space; 10 GB recommended for off-line features and higher performance browsing

Those are some insane requirements though. Basically the same as Crysis (most graphically demanding game ever made), if memory serves.

Not sure, but by a recent steam survey no more than 38 percent would meet the recommended requirements, and those are gamers.

To those who have tried it...How does it compare to Google Sky?

The WorldWide Telescope won't run on anything but Windows so unfortunately I can't have a look at it.
