I sent a letter home authorizing someone to do the CRC from my local police station but they said I need to have it done in Korea first.

Does anyone have any information about this?

You can get a Criminal record check from Canada without being in Canada
or visiting a police station in Canada. Go to the Canadian embassy in Seoul and pick up the fingerprint form and get your prints done at a police station in Seoul. Then send the form to the RCMP. When it arrives you can get it stamped at the Canadian embassy in Seoul

Thanks, just got off the phone with embassy and they said you can send it to your local police department as it would get done quicker.

I have about a month before my visa expires. So I get the finger printing done here, send it to Canada and get the police check at my local police station and then get it apostilized at the Canadian Embassy in Seoul...do I have it correct?

Basically. You don't get an apostille at the Canadian Embassy.

When the CRC arrives from Canada, take it to the Embassy in Seoul and fill out a "statutory declaration" (they'll have blanks on hand) regarding the authenticity of the CRC. "I obtained this document from Bumfunk PD, I am the person named therein, it is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, it has not been altered in any way," etc. You sign it before the embassy official, who will notarize it.

Attach this notarized statement to the CRC and you're good to go. The notarized statement serves in lieu of an apostille or stamp from the Korean consulate in Canada.

I was at the Namdong Police Station (Incheon) today and myself and two friends, after much explanation, got our fingerprints done. However, we have them on the korean form issued by the police station.

The RCMP guideline http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/crimrec/finger2_e.htm seemed to suggest this was OK, but some of you have contacted the embassy and used an English form. Will this korean form fly?

Let me know any success stories....
