Gotta admit, that's got a lot of truth.
But, I have to say, since coming to Korea ten years ago I haven't had a cold, like head cold, body aches stuff, not one time since I drank HanYak, or traditional medicine. I also had a one month course of 'dog soju' as a medicinal juice (actually without me knowing what it was until after I drank it all.) There is something for me in that Korea does have some unique thing going on in their concoctions of 'food.'
That's not to say that the pollution and dust that you mention has taken several years off my life. |

Not a dumb question at all. The way Ya-ta is using it, one could never guess the meaning. A "wangtta" is a social outcast. So, if you don't feel like answering a bunch of questions about yourself to strangers on the street, you must be a social outcast. You see, socially adept people approach people on the streets with lists of questions to accost them with and socially adept people spend their time answering such questions. Social outcasts are too busy spending time with their friends and families. |

Asking strangers questions like this is just dumb.
English classes in Korea are filled with these kinds of meaningless and inane activities whose only purpose is to take up time and make the teacher feel good.
When you add up all the hours and days spent doing these pointless activities it truly boggles the mind. I liken it to all Koreans studying only Chinese characters during ancient times. It's pointless and a huge waste of limited resources. |

| Any non-Korean who "fits in" here and can relate to the Korean way of thinking is the real wangta. You know who you are... |

Sweet merciful crap. Komerican made a post that I can actually agree with. |

| Personally, I rather enjoy those homework assignments. I've had probably a dozen decent conversations with the students after finishing their questions. It isn't surprising how many students will complain about stupid teachers giving out stupid assignments. The best stories are about the rude foreigners refusing to answer the questions. I've found that if I bring up the word 'wangtta' the students understand immediately why way-gookins won't answer their questions. |
I don't think refusing to answer a list of questions to a complete stranger is rude at all. I guess I'm a wangtta. Woe is me. |
Yeah, they're annoying little f'ers with stupid ass questions. F 'em. |

You mean people think any time a Jehovah Witness or a Mormon comes by and wants to ask a few questions I should spend my time talking with them? How about when someone wants to take a 30min+ survey. People who think this way are a little odd if you ask me. |

| I always talk to students when they talk to me. Damned if I know what school they go to! They could easily be MY students! I have so many students. I have students I haven't even met yet after 2.5 months working there... |

I got that way after living in New York City for too long. I was becoming Travis Bickle: "One of these days a real rain's gonna come and wash all the scum off the streets..." Get out now while you still have some sanity.

Um, I know he agreed with me. I'm guessing that's why he wrote, "people" instead of "you" in the first sentence. |

| I always try to get their teacher's cell phone number, then I give it to every bar girl in a 10 block radius. Their assignment is to pester the hell out of the rich, lonely guy owning the phone. |
