|
|
| I completed my 100 hour KEI TEFL and submitted my certificate to my co-teacher. She said that according to a supervisor somewhere I can't receive a raise until next semester. I'm searching for the place where it is written, by EPIK, that we are to receive a 100,000 won raise in the same month, or is it the month after, TEFL completion. Can someone help me with that and/or tell me what steps you followed to get your raise. Thanks in advance. |

| I'd like to know the same thing for GEPIK. After completing my TESOL, I was told I could not get the raise specified in the contract because I was already a Level 1 teacher. I do not agree that my salary cannot be raised until next year, as I am still not at the max I could get with experience. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to convince them yet. |

| You get the raise the next pay period. It's in the GEPIK contract. |

| My contract is not on me at the moment but I've since had my co-teacher call the provincial supervisor instead of the local one. This is all happening as we speak so I'm giving her the time to do that before I make some calls. |

If you already got 1 raise then you can't get the next one til the next contract period.
For example: If you got a raise for getting an MA, then they can't give you a raise for getting a teaching certificate that same year. |

| GEPIK is for Gyeongi-do province excluding Seoul. EPIK is for the rest of the provinces and cities. SMOE (I think) is for Seoul. |

In Gangwon do, after completing my certificate I was told that I would get the raise at the start of my next contract. But on my next contract I got a raise anyway as I became a level 1.
I could not find anywhere in my contract that said I would get a raise after the certificate, although I was told I would by several people recruiters and BOE. They said this was a "misunderstanding". |

"Misunderstanding" by who and about what?
WTF does "misunderstanding" really mean in Korea? |

Misunderstanding means they lied to you but won't say so because it will make them lose face.
A co-teacher tried to tell me that when she said "holiday" it meant a day to come in to work and sit at the desk. She said something lost in translation lol, I said I very seriously doubt the Korean word for "holiday" means sitting around the workplace but not working...that's the definition for "work" here. |

KEI is where I earned my online TEFL. Here's a link: http://www.koredinco.com/
I'm happy with my experience there and would recommend them if you're interested.
I still haven't found where the 100,000$ won raise is written in regards to EPIK. Anyone? |
