|
|
I am planning a vacation for the middle of June.
I have my heart set on the Philippines but I was wondering wondering about the weather.
Can anyone recommend a nice beach with good weather at that time?
I would love to go to Boracay but will it be too wet?
Any help is appreciated. |

Not sure how long your vacation is but unless you have buckets of time, either Boracay or Alona Beach are the 2 realistic options.
Both are easy to get to, have the white beach, and you are still likely to have OK weather. The good news is that it is also off-peak time there so you should be able to get decent rates on your accommodation.

Thanks ttompatz.
I'm only going for 6/7 days so I would like the weather to be good.
When you say OK weather, does that mean it probably will rain a bit? |

You are on the upper edge of the intertropical convergence zone... it is always possible to get rain ....
It is also the beginning of the typhoon season and although most major storms track north of the mid region in the Philippines, there is always the possibility of getting brushed by the edge of one.
There is no guarantee when it comes to weather.
The good news is that the rain is warm and doesn't usually last long when a squall does come through. Dress is casual and a t-shirt will dry quickly or you can pop into a beach bar, have a cool one and wait it out.
If you are diving, you will be wet anyway so a little rain squall won't matter. You probably wouldn't even notice it.

Wow, I am impressed by the swiftness of your reply!
The weather you describe is what I had imagined and doesn't sound too bad at all.
One last thing though if that's OK?
How do I find the best price for getting there, a travel agent or online?
I'm only asking as online the price seems to be about w1,200,000 for 2 people flying from Incheon - Manilla - Caticlan on the 15th June coming back on the 22nd.
Any suggestions would be great.
Again, thanks for the help. |

Air tickets will be expensive. The worst part of the ticket are the taxes and the fuel surcharge (I expect they are just about 50% of your ticket cost).
When you get there, have a hotel booked for your first night and then walk the beach looking for prices. I have still seen them as low as p800 per night for fan rooms and p1200 for aircon rooms (garden view).
http://www.boracay.com/ will give you a pretty good idea of what's available. Internet prices ARE more expensive that off the beach rates for many of the smaller hotels and resorts. |

Same question--can I expect decent weather in the Philippines--except I wonder about the beginning of August. Can I expect things to be about the same as they are in June then? |

IF there is no typhoon in the region you have a 50% chance of some rain on any given day. (usually in the form of an afternoon shower).
If there IS a typhoon in the region you can expect buckets of rain (even if it is not likely to hit the Philippines. Boracay doesn't often get hit - they tend to track farther north through Luzon or above on the way to China, Taiwan or Japan..
There is a slim chance of a typhoon in the region any time between June and November.
You can keep a watch here to see what is happening.

There was a tropical storm that just left the area (TS Halong) but it originated WEST of the Philippines and tracked to the north east and that is unusual.

Have fun on your Korean tour! MMM, I always wanted to eat kimchi for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Philippines. When I go on vacation, I look forward to waking up at 6 am so I can get on the tour bus!!!! |

Can anyone recommend some good hotels/bungalows in a quiet area of white beach?
Price isn't much of an issue, I just want somewhere nice, clean and quiet (away from the noisy bars etc) |

They walk the 800 meters from white beach to the back side of the island.
You can get places for as little as p800 per night and you are away from the hustle and bustle.
Noise is not much of an issue even on white beach. |
