|
|
Quite often one sees used computers here where the seller has an inflated sense of the value. A second hand computer drops in price rapidly, not unlike a brand new car. Unlike a car however computers continue to drop in value until you can't even pay someone to take it off of your hands, usually more than 4 years old and you've approached this range.
Anyhow I went to Yongsan today and took a picture of a brand new computer price (I wasn't in the cheap building) - this computer is a core 2 duo and includes a 19" monitor as well as the 8800GT vga card with 512 memory.
It's a pretty good deal for a pre-fab.
on the low end, I saw core duos with 1gb or ram and 200gb hard drives for 250,000 (forgot to take a picture that time - will do the next time I am at yongsan) |

What's the point? I paid less than that over 6 months ago for a rig with better specs in Yongsan? |

I've got a pre-fab with the pretty much the same specs. Serves its purpose.
I bought a 21" ViewSonic with the package. The price of the monitor was a bit inflated. Now I realize that I could have bought a ViewSonic at Costco for a lot less money. |

It's not 8800GT. It's 8600GT. Somewhat different in performance. Even though it's not a bad deal, I can still assemble a computer set that's probably faster with a 22" wide LCD monitor for $600. PM me if interested.
I assembled mine with the following spec. about a year ago.
E2180 @2.9GHz (Overclocked from 1.6GHz)
2GB RAM
320GB HDD
2600 PRO
Cost me less than $400 w/o the monitor. |

I don't think Super Hero is trying to say this is a great deal. He's simply trying to show what prices are available in Yongsan so people don't get ripped off here on the BST forums.
Computers depreciate a lot, and do it very quickly. This is a decent system with a monitor, so you have a starting point for pricing a system.

While Superhero may have been making a sublime assertion, you have certainly driven it home.
I'm more than sure he will be thankful. |
