Is there a listing of all the movie theaters in Seoul. There is one in TechnoMart (CGV) but that is too far away from me. I am in Yeoungdeungpo.

| I meant to clarify that they don't have to be CGV they can be any movie theater that shows American or Korean movies with English subtitles. |

| There is a movie theater in Lotte Department Store at Yeongdongpo Station. I think it's on the 7th or 8th floor. Nice theater too. |

i believe a movie theater in Yongasn is currently experimenting with English subtitles on Korean movies There was a thread about it a while back. |

Sure, you can give that a shot, but have a backup plan as their policy of showing movies with subtitles changes on daily, nay hourly basis. |

To find out showtimes and locations of movies currently being played in Korea, as well as instructions on how to get there, just call up the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) hotline at 1330.
1330 provides information in English about living, visiting and traveling in Korea.
They are operated 24 hours a day.
If your calling from a cellphone you just add the area code before 1330.
If you don't know your area code go to this site to find it out:
http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/GK/GK_EN_2_7_1.jsp
You can call them up and ask them what are the show times and showing locations of a movie your interested in. They will be happy to help you with that.
If it's a Korean movie your interested in, they can tell you if a showing has English subtitles or not. While generally Korean movies do not have English subtitles, I do know that the recently released Korean movies "Crossing" and "The Good, the Bad, and the Weird" did have some showings that had English subtitles. I do not know if that is the case now. Just call 1330 to find out.
Pass the info about 1330 to other foreigners. It's good to know. 1330 is very helpful.

Good info. Everyone I know simply calls this the "English Lady" hotline since it's always a lady who answers the phone and she usually has an accent that would seen to indicate that she's a Korean who lived a lot of years in London and has sort of a Seoul/Holland Park patois.
Anyway, it would be awfully handy if there were just a website in English with movie listings or even a low-graphics Korean site with the same info that I could put through the google translator to extract the same info. |

It kind of makes sense, if you put yourself in her shoes. If you name a specific theater and location and have a particular movie in mind, it'd be easy for her to answer your question. If you want a list of theaters and showtimes then she'll probably blow you off (and I'd hardly blame her). |

The one I almost always go to is the CGV in Omogkyo. Go to Omogkyo Station and head for exit #2 on the number 5 line.
This exit leads directly into the underground mall section of the Hyundai Department Store (which contains lots of western foods and amazing, albeit pricey, selection of French cheeses). Just continue straight ahead. Keep walking straight, in the direction of the Burger King at the end of the mall and keep your eyes to the right and you'll see the box office. The movie titles are in both English and Korean and every time I've ever been their they've ALWAYS had at least one employee with good English skills on staff. I'm 100% sure that if you wanted to see a Korean movie with English subtitles, they'd be able to tell you whether or not they had such a thing and if so, when and what and they could converse about it all in English.
The other nice thing is that in hot or cold weather, you never have to go to street level since it's all interconnected with the subway station.
PS If you're leaving the movies and realize you need to pick up some western deodorant or some western shampoo and aren't picky about your brand, there's a small shop inside subway station that has a smattering of western items (hey, it'll save you a trip to Itaewon). When you come out of the tunnel that IS exit #2, turn left. Walk to the far end of the station and keep left (the mall splits into a right corridor and a left corridor). You'll pass a juice bar and a cd shop - keep going. Look to your left and you should see the little shop. They have different western items on display so it should be obvious. It's located right before the end of the left-hand corridor. |

I knew both the movie name and theatre name, and I told her this information. And yet, no help. |
