One of my cousins in Holland died of a stroke. I found out today. Eric was only 46 yrs old.

He'd been feeling very unwell the last month--seeing a neurologist for blinding headaches in the mornings. The docs couldn't figure out what was wrong. Taking pain meds that didn't seem to help. Couldn't work. Was scheduled to have an MRI done on the 22nd.
He was otherwise always a happy, healthy guy.

I can only wonder if the docs would have caught an imminent bleed if he'd had the MRI sooner.
Our family is in shock. His father is devastated. Burying your child goes against the natural order of things.

Today we appreciated our lives more than usual.

I'm sorry for the loss felt by those related to him, but there is no need to lament - he's probably in a better place and relieved to be out of a body that caused intense suffering.

I lost a cousin who was about the same age as me a couple years ago, and my father passed away a couple months later.

It's sad for us, but hopefully they're much happier.

My sympathies.
The same thing happened to my mom at 50. Huge migraines for years, and one day....an aneurysm/stroke. I don't trust doctors really after this. I had been pushing for an MRI for mom for 2 years.

the specialist at the hospital told me one in five people will have a stroke or aneurysm in their life. Shocked

It would appear you have a Y=0 learning curve in social graces.

Aside from the obvious boorishness of your post concerning my cousin's untimely death herein lies a cautionary tale.
The sudden onset of prolonged, blinding headaches should be checked out *ASAP* with an MRI. It could save a life.
