Newbie question that I was just curious about.

What's the shelf life of Soju if you open a bottle, drink some, put the cap back on and stick it in the fridge?

Thanks!

Like last night's wine. It won't kill you, but why drink it?

Not too sure, but the more you drink the shorter your shelf life.

Why even stick it in the fridge? You don't refrigerate rubbing alcohol, do you? You just stick it in the medicine cabinet.

OP has a very good question. I'm now wondering the same thing. So it is like wine, in that it should be placed in the refrigerator if it's got some left inside?

does soju go bad? its born bad!
considering it costs about 1000W a bottle, i'd be inclined to just throw it away; but really, its just chemicals, so most probably it would be fine.

Laughing

what you guys know about alcohol could fit under a postage stamp!

don't worry: no need to refrigerate, let sit for 10 years, use to clean auto parts and as a nightcap

Stick some lemon in it and use it as an anti-acne face wash.

I was advised that when I keep open bottles of soju in the fridge, I should store them upside down. Hope that helps.

Soju is made with formaldehyde.
Even if it is a year old, I truly doubt it can ever get 'old'

Besides, if you drink enough of it and get hit by a car and die, you never have to worry about being embalmed for your funeral Wink

According to a Corpsman I met, this is a common misconception among Waegookin. Soju does not, and had never contained formaldehyde. As early as 15 years ago, however, the small bottles were sealed with lift and flip wine corks. These were sealed with formaldehyde. This is why you won't see older Hangul drinking Soju from the bottle. For the rest of us, it's pretty garden-variety, has a screw-cap, tastes a bit like dry vodka, and tastes good cold and straight or mixed with coke zero for a low-carb beverage.

As for storing it upside-down, people used to do that to keep the cork from getting dry and disintegrating.

Your mileage may vary.

Do you know what I miss about Korea the most?

Being able to go to the alcohol section of the supermarket and buying one of those HUGE bottles of soju..........
Soldiers used to call them 'combat bottles'...........

I think I remember the steps to getting 'soju power':

One Bottle: I am handsome and every girl wants me......
Two Bottles: I can walk on water and levitate things with my pinky......
Three Bottles: I am a one-man fighting machine.......
Four Bottles: I can fly 3 blocks before falling on my face........
Five Bottles: I can re-enact the vomit scene from 'The Exorcist'.........
Six Bottles: I will definitely go home with someone that night (soju goggles on tight)..............
Seven Bottles: Can't stand, can't sit and I am speaking Korean fluently (though they don't understand a word I say)..............
Eight Bottles (if you live): You finally reach full power and you can make your cellphone and wallet miraculously disappear while unconscious in the subway station waiting for the first train to arrive.....

Yeah....I miss my 'soju moments'......................... Crying or Very sad

bullshit........I ain't sad

hehehehehehehehehe!!!!!!
