Bike is in pretty much perfect condition... only 5,000 kilometers. It was crashed about a year ago and the forks, the wheel and front tire were replaced, making it about like new. No front fender, though, but no rust either. It's great on gas and looks and runs great.
I live in Gwangju. To be perfectly honest, I bought this bike only a week ago. Drove it home from Busan, it runs fine, it looks sweet, but I can already tell it'll probably just sit around in the parking lot, mostly. Thought I'd try to sell it while the weather brought the buyers.
One possible issue: there are no papers. Apparently you can file for a lost title to get new ones, but to be honest I don't know anything about it. I was assured by the Canadian man who sold it to me that he's never had a problem with cops, as long as you wear your helmet. In the week I've had, neither have I.
As I am a computer moron and can't figure out how to post them, e-mail me for pics: [email protected]. I'm asking 800,000W. |

800k with no papers & a major accident? You must be kidding me man!
I was buying the same bike with the same issues, probably 2001 model, for 300k and a Korean friend told me that he could get the documentation done for 250k. But no guarantee that it might not cause any trouble in the future!
Good luck with the sale though! |

Strange, I was just thinking that I was probably asking too much. My local bike shop is selling the same bike with four times as many mileage for 850,000... but then, that's Korea, so I figure that price is high as well.
600,000W. They're like two million new... actually, I just found they were like four million new, but that's in Europe... this one is two years old and has barely any mileage. If 600,000W is still a ridiculous price, I'll just keep it. |

tom, I have to ask: Did you get the problem of the bike dying/not starting resolved? You never followed up on your post in the motorcycle thread in off-topics. |

Yeah, the starting problem is all taken care of. Just needed to fiddle with some knob attached the gas tank... the idle screw knob... apparently it was way down, or something. I don't know... I'm new to all this. It's been riding no problem since. |

After getting some $hit from people, I lowered the price to 600,000W. And I don't see how it matters that it crashed... every part that was damaged was replaced with a new part. 400,000W spent on repairs... doesn't that make the bike worth even more than having old parts?
Anyway, if six hundred dollars is too much for a motorcycle in nearly perfect condition (what does the fender do, anyway? I've heard nothing, but feel free to correct. I actually like the way it looks without it.) with barely any miles, that is two years old and worth three or four times that new (again, feel free to correct... I can only find new prices in Europe, which have these bikes listed at like two thousand pounds), I'll probably just hang onto it. Can't believe bikes lose so much value if they're not brand new. |

Damaged, illegal ones do, anyways.
Yes, it matters -- there are many ways that a bike can be damaged in an accident beyond what you can clearly see.
Riding around without papers or insurance a) encourages theft (or at least makes it easier) and b) if you get into any sort of accident on the road, you're gonna be royally messed up. Paying for not only your own medical expenses, but also for the damage you may have caused and medical expenses of the other party. You're also opening yourself up to charges, paying additional fines - which also means that you'll have a criminal record in Korea. this may prevent you from staying and teaching here. Being a foreigner with a relatively high paying job compounds the problems (people take pity on the delivery guys).
Do you begin to see why your bike, as nice as it may be, is worth quite a bit less than it would with the proper documentation? |

How does one go about registering a bike?
I have a license (Korean) and I have the bike's papers.
Thanks in advance. |

Eh... kinda. First, I'm pretty medical insurance has nothing to do with the insurance you'd buy for the motorbike. Secondly, I don't see how much damage you could do to someone else on a motorbike (unless you run into a pedestrian or something, and even then, I'm not sure the auto insurance would be much help). If anything, I would think nine out of ten times you're involved in an accident with a car, your ride and not the much bigger, less fragile car would be beat up. Everything you mentioned is at the complete disaster end of the spectrum of possibilities... use your brain when you drive and I doubt any of it will actually happen. Oh, I know... seemingly everyone on here gets cut off and almost crashes because of those darn Korean drivers every time they drive... personally, I think that's just one of many exaggerations about how awful this place and its people are. I don't know... maybe I'm reckless. At this point I doubt I'll sell this bike, but I'm pretty confident I'll ride it around until my contract is up without falling into thousands in debt or getting arrested and without paying hundreds of thousands of won for insurance I'll never need and plates the cops don't worry about. To each his own, of course. I'm perfectly comfortable riding it. If anyone wants a cheap, nice bike and thinks they can ride it without getting jailed or deported or wrecking a car or killing or severely injuring a person, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. |

You sound like a nice guy, but you should be aware: front fenders keep rocks from flying up and knocking out your front teeth. |

Interesting, that hasn't happened to me once. Geez, why are Dave's people so scared of everything?? |
