hi, my friend from ireland is coming over to teach in my school. it seems my director was unaware of the full new process and didnt tell him about needing an apostille for his criminal check. it has taken ages for all of his documents to get processed and sent here, and i dont particularly want to send them back to him in ireland to get this done and have them sent back over to korea again! does anyone know if myself or my director can take it to the irish embassy in seoul and have them do it there to save time??
thanks |

First, see if the Irish Embassy has a website, and if they CAN do an apostille. The British Embassy can't.
They relaxed the rules recently so that if you are renewing a contract, notarisation of your CRC by the embassy will suffice. I don't think that applies to new applications though, but it wouldn't hurt to call immigration and ask. |

Short answer is NO. Send the CRC back and get an apostille.
An apostille must be/can only be done in the home country.
The embassies here in Korea only notarize an affidavit to verify the authenticity of the CRC and that requires the person to be there IN PERSON to swear an oath.
Since he is a new application he can't be here before his E2 is issued (since he must have the consular interview in his home country).
Hence the short answer in line 1.
Pick your favorite courier service or just use EMS (works just as fast).
