I keep getting overcharged on the buses.

I use my Samsung card Anypass.

It used to ring up 900B on the bus more often than not now it rings up 1600.

I can't work out why.

Any ideas.

Rang up 1600 on the first subway journey last time I used the subway but 900 for the next one.

Use your bus token. And, you can always call up the Samsung Card "English" chick and put it to her.

If there is a card swipe machine by the rear exit of a bus, swipe on and off the bus. This goes for most buses in Seoul and surrounding areas (Gyeonggi and Incheon). Neglecting to do so causes one to be penalized on the next card use (w900 becomes w1600).

It doesn't seem to apply to express buses (red).

They penalise me for using the bus?

It may be crap but, I know what I'm paying each trip and that I'm NOT being overcharged... Wink

They penalize you for not swiping when you get off. Are you swiping the card both times?

Sometimes if I remmeber. Still runs up 1600 though. I wonder if my card is stuck on intercity bus rate as well.

So how come that *beep* Spliff when he uses the bus with me doesn't get penalised using his little teddy bear bus token that he has?

If you use your card for a second journey, on bus or subway, within a certain time of the first one: it's considered as part of the same journey so the second journey is cheaper than the first.

[Not sure, but I think the second is cheaper, if used within 30 mins?]

The only time you will be charged 1,600 won is if you forget to swipe your card upon exiting the bus. For example, if you don't swipe your card when you return from work, the next morning you will be charged 1,600 instead of 900.

Are you sure that the machine is reading your card upon exit? I have had it spit out the Korean version of, "Please swipe your card again you mangy bastard."

This applies only for intercity buses.

Thing is I never used to swipe it and it always said 900. Although I may have always gone in with the missus and asked for two and paid for both of us.

Why does it rob me on the next journey then? Is there any logic in it?
