This is from today's Korea Times. Does it mean that E2s can work at two jobs?
""The association is protesting the government's move to revise two clauses of regulations on English-teaching, or E-2 visas.
Under current rules, E-2 visa holders sign contracts with hagwon owners on a one-year basis and are required to work at least nine months at a maximum of only two locations.
The immigration authorities told the association on April 16 that it will let E-2 visa holders transfer to other working places after a month and allow them to work at more than two locations. The planned relaxation of the rules is aimed at maximizing the convenience for foreign English teachers, according to the KIS. Hagwon owners, however, are worried that this will lead to a high job turnover rate and jack up wages.
As for the incoming association for native English-speaking instructors, the owners said they will take all measures against them. |

You always could with permission from your employer and immigration.
With most hakwon contracts there is a clause to prevent you from seeking employment at a 2nd place anyway so it would still be a moot point.

Interesting.
I can see that they want all the benefits of making us work at mulitple locations without earning any extra money for doing so.
Say hello to contracts at multiple locations with longer hours for about the same pay.
Hopefully, nobody will be stupid enough to fall for such a contract. |

Why is the association so afraid of giving the foreigner basic rights regarding their employment. I would love E2 Visa's having the right to move employers for whatever reason. It would make the EFL Industry in Korea more competitive, which is a good thing no?
I guess the association has some fingers in many pies and doesn't want to give us foreigners some basic rights. Remember they want slavery and will do anything to control the EFL business in their favour.

Ha ha! What are you smokin'? This will only happen in a fairy tale.
However, letting us 'own' our own visas as Japan allows would bring more teachers over. |

Well it is lucky for me that I own my visa now, isn't it? It was a hypothetical scenario and "hope" that E2 Visa Holders have more rights.
Anyway, more on topic, why is the association more afraid of English
Teacher's rights? Why are they afraid of change? Why don't they want to loosen the regulations a bit (like Japan)? Is really because Korea will attract dirty old foreigners or is because the association would lose it's grip on the market and will eventually lose their cartel they have? |

How come there's no estimated date for when this would happen? Is it because it's just a crazy dream? |
