About 35,000 won, but don't remember where we got it. Probably a department store electronics section.

Thanks, helly. I'm going to take a look around and if I can find something like that... I'll start making callbacks. Twisted Evil

I never answer my home phone. Why would I want to talk to someone I don't know? I answer my cell but I just let my home number ring and ring and ring.

I got tired of the

"hello"

"Yoboseyo?"

"Hanguk - mao mollayo!"

"Eh?"

I hang up

30 Seconds later, ring ring ring.

*beep* it, no more answering my phone.

I once got a phone call from a woman looking to speak with her boyfriend. I can only imagine what she thought when she heard a distinctly female voice say "hello?" as she tried to reach her boyfriend.
I keep getting calls from KTF looking to speak with my friend who signed me up for the phone. I live in Gwangju. She lives in Mokpo. I have no idea why they'd think that my friend would be right there with me all the time, but it's getting kind of annoying. You'd figure they'd give up by now.

Sometimes Korean can be so rude to strangers.

I was calling a number that I was SURE was my friends.
ME: HEllo. IS Kyoung-hee there?
Them: No
ME: IS this ***-****.
CLICK

(Maybe I dialed the number wrong. call again)
ME: Hello. IS Kyoung-hee there?
Them:...
ClICK!

(One last time)
ME Hello..
Them...
CLICK!

It turns out, IT WAS HER MOM!. Mind you, this was all in Korean, so even that lame excuse is out the wondow.

I usually play the hello - yoboseyo game. I can't hang up as soon as I here yoboseyo, it could be DHL, my inlaws etc. Last weekend I had some adjoshi call me about 6 times. On the fifth call I started saying random Korean words,

Adjoshi yoboseyo

Me soju!

Adjoshi yoboseyo

Me maekju!

Adjoshi Ahh blah blah blah.

Hahaha.

Sometimes I mess around with my in-laws. I mentioned that I have that little number reader so I might answer with a Yoboseyo when I know its them.

This freaks out my mother-in-law, who thinks she dialed the wrong number. I get to play a very limited Yoboseyo game before she recognizes my voice.

I can easily recognize my father-in-law's voice but it doesn't matter because he just starts full throttle everytime. It's like he skips the formality and starts in the middle.

Shortly after purchasing my first cell phone in Korea, I began getting calls from this woman who would say the foulest things. She called me every conceiveable name in the book, but I at the time knew only what a few of her lovely words meant (shipsaeggi was one, but definitely not the worst).

And she began calling in the middle of the night, every night. Finally, my wife (g/f at the time) talked to her. It turned out that the woman was the ex girlfriend of a guy who had the same number, but apparently cancelled it (lucky for him; not so for me) after he ditched her and stole her car ( Laughing !)

My wife adamantly explained to the woman that I was not her ex boyfriend, but the crazy woman wouldn't believe her. She said that I was indeed the same low-life that had stolen her car, and was only answering the phone in English in a feeble attempt to disguise who I really was (this woman also claimed that she could tell I was the guy by my voice, which apparently was identical to her ex boyfriend's). After about an hour of arguing, my wife finally called the police, and they, allowing my wife to listen in, told the woman to cut it out "or else." Mercifully, the calls ended after that.

Definitely a bizarre experience. The only other one being the time a few months ago when a solicitor from Korea Telecom called, and then, using very good English, tried to get me to sign up to some plan. I refused, but applauded her tenacity.
