This is just to let people know who have been looking for some "reliable" source which explains the Korean Tax System as it applies to foreigners that I found on the Korean NTS Website today a link to a document which has been published May 2008 called "Individual Income Tax and Benefit Guide for Foreigners 2008" . It includes information both in terms of business but also for Individuals like us... I found it by accident when I was looking for something to confirm something I was saying to my boss ... and it is possibly a useful document which at the very least explains in English how things work ... And the fact that the tax rate applicable to Non Residents who earn Salary and Wage income like us are treated the same as Korean Residents who do ... And document has weight because it has been produced by the people who enforce the system - ie is Offical.
The link to the document is
http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/resources/resour_21.asp?minfoKey=MINF7420080211223143&type=V
If that doesn't work you can get to the document by going to http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/ and then clicking through Resources to Publications and then it is the most recent document on the list ... added at the start of this month.
