I have yet to meet a student who passionately supports American beef. You go in an American classroom, on any issue there will be passionate support for opposing sides of a political issue. Really, any issue.

When everybody thinks in group think, even if they're all right, that's usually a real problem.

I disagree. In my adult conversation classes, the students present a variety of different opinions; even on the beef issue.

You must be joking! - You cannot leave the house without some prat mouthing off their favourite moron chant 'its political correctness gone mad!' My God! How can you stretch the truth so much! Our country is full of right wing knobbers who spout right wing crap daily and who are in the majorty - you can't ever shut them up!

We have radical Islamic Clerics in the streets inciting Muslims to kill us and take over our country and if anyone tried to stop them or complain THEY'D be the one who was seen as dangerous lol....

In my 36 years of living in the UK, I have never ever heard a muslim cleric on the street inciting muslims kill white people/non muslims/jews etc. In fact I have never ever seen a muslim cleric on the street preaching anything.

Yeah that nonsense about Abu Qatada(?), the radical Muslim cleric who is considered by European intelligence agencies to be a key figure in the al-Qaida network yet he claims benefits and we let him live freely in the UK despite him supporting suicide bombers (as well as child suicide bombers) and calling for the pope to be executed. At least the US were not as dumb as our government (banned him in 99)

Isn't he in Belmarsh jail?

You know, as much as I hate his ideals and viewpoints, this is the penalty of living in a truly free country - some peoples opinions - though sickening
- have the right to be aired - and the right to be dissected and argued down. I would prefer that than to ban people whoe opinion is unpalatable.

Also we pay handouts for Polish kids who don`t even live in the UK but because their parents do we have to.

You mean the Polish workers who all pay NI and tax? I'm more intolerant of lazy, stupid arseholes who get pregnant at 16 by their spotty glue sniffing boyfriends and expect the state to house and clothe and feed them and their offspring - one day we will all come to the conclusion that
these are the parasites that are runing this country - bringing kids into this world that they can't look ater or teach them any kind of honesty or decency.

However - I will save the best on for last.

Says who? Stop coming out with this BS propaganda - It's not true! I'm looking at a st george flying away outside someones house and it has been that was for the past 2 years. You are allowed to fly any flag you want from outside your house. You are allowed to celebrate christmas, st georges day and sing baa baa black sheep! Stop regurgitating Daily Mail/BNP propaganda.

There was also one rumour going around about hospitals were considering banning the bible encase it offends any muslim patients who enter hospital

There was a rumor that an alien spaceship came down from the skies an anally rogered a farmer and his collie! Rolling Eyes

Link to the story and I'll bet you anything there was no muslim wanting any bible banned.

hmmm...hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's killed since the 1991 Gulf War and you call 9/11 the most spectacular terrorist event in history??

Now, who believes whatever their government tells them.

Are you from a culture where singular/plural differentiation is nonexistant? Has said culture not grasped how to express events that are not happening in the present? Otherwise I fail to see how you can compare one act that took a couple hours to play out (9/11) with mutiple acts, often related only tenuously, over the course of 17 years.

I'm assuming you're from the Piraha tribe, as that's the only language I know that can't express events using time.

I'm not saying your numbers are wrong, or that what America has done in Iraq is great, but to compare a singular event to a series of events played out over 17 years is just stupid.

Fair enough. One act cannot be compared to numerous acts of violence on the Iraqi people. The point that I was trying to make is that, whenever America is attacked it is considered Terrorism. Whenever we attack them, it is liberation. The media portrays it as if we are doing these people a favor.

I've had numerous children tell me the same stereotypes about the Chinese. That is, they are dirty, they love money, they have bad manners, etc.

I wonder if many Koreans believe these things, or I just had the bad luck to meet the few who did.

bejarano-korea, good work! I love the hysterics over phantom PC in the West. "They want to ban the Bible!" "Terrorists are allowed to run free!" "They're going to force all children to be gay!"

Don't worry. By far the majority of those in charge are still rich, white straight Christian men. Your world is safe. For now.

*No quote because it's rather lengthy.

I love the Daily Mail. Fantastic publication with it's scare mongering and close to BNP ramblings.
I spend every morning when I get up at 5:45am eating home made muesli and reading the Daily Mail, Guardian and The Times (all online).

Didn't they spell Academy and Awareness wrong on this add? Seems a big odd for a linguistic academy to do....
