So I went out last night thinking to get properly hammered and found a half litre of Scotch for about $30. I figured, what the heck, if my life comes down to the last $30 I have in my pocket, I'm doing it wrong. Fast forward...

...To this morning. I had a bit of a hangover, but I'm in frelling Korea, they don't know what V8 is, and they don't have tobasco except in Gumi, and I wouldn't buy it if they had it here because it's spendy. So what do I get for a hangover?

Joochungsu. $2. Joochungsu and a shower. I feel like a new man. Now which cured my hangover?

a) The walk to the Yaksa
b) The shower I took when I got back
c) The Korean hangover cure.

Or a combination of the above? Is there something to this voodoo herbal medicine they have here?

I think most of these medicines are voodoo mainly be because they are not proven. Stuff like eating dog meat will increase your sexual stamina. Its a bunch wives tailes, unless thei is a serious study done to back up these claims I claim most of this Chinese/Korean/Asian medicines as a bunch of bad rubish bullshit.

True. While Korean traditional medicine is useful for some complaints, I wouldn't like my life to be depending on it.

In 1910 the average life expectency for a Korean man was 24/25.
With the introduction of better hygeine condtions, living standards and western medicine it had increased to over 44 by the early 1940's.

Korean Traditional Medicine is not voodoo. The skills of the practitioners are varied and it could be considered an art form, just like the skills of modern surgeons.

There has been a continuing process of scientific based research to measure the effectiveness of acupuncture and herbal medicines in the fields of pain management, obesity, allergies, chronic fatigue, stroke prevention and rehabilitation, and arthritis and rheumatism.

The hospital where I work is a leader in integrative scientific based research. We have Western and Oriental medical doctors working together in research and in the treatment of patients.

I would highly recommend people suffering from long term chronic conditions to try these alternative therapies.

I have chronic alergies and guess what I tried Voodoo medicine (Asian medicine) Guess what? It didn't work.

I will just stick to anti-histamines from western medicine.

I trust Korean research as much as I would trust in the US inteligence service telling me that there are WMD's in Iraq.

Temporary, I don't know where you went for your treatment, but the Oriental ENT specialist at our center has a great record of curing allergic rhinits. It requires about six weeks of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment twice a week, along with daily herbal medicine.

I understand your hesitation to mistrust some Korean scientific/medical research, but I can assure you that the work that is done at our university is internationally accepted and respected.

My experience with Doctors has been terrible here. Went to ENT specialist with a broken nose and a Sever Septum Hematoma and I was given pain killers. Thats it. He didn't even reset my nose didn't drain the hematoma. He took my money and thats it. I had to visit 3 differenbt doctors before I found one that actually dealt with the problem properly.
