Subway stations? I have only seen one guy selling them and he had a decent collection. I have looked in Youido but no luck. Is there a crackdown or something going on? Does TechnoMart or Yongsan Electronics Market sell "not original" movies? What areas or sections typically sell them? |

The cheapest prices for DVD movies is on the internet. Some totally generous websites allow me to download full DVD movies for free!! Wow! |

I don't think it's really where you go, but more about when you go. I find weekends are the better time to scoop up your 'not-original' DVDs. Every weekend there is a guy in Hyahwa, Dongdaemun and Nowon (near the subway). In Technomart there is a whole floor for DVDs, but I have never bought any there and am not sure if they are legit or not. Just outside IPark in Yongsan, across the tracks, there are a ton of DVD sellers.
I found through experience that they all pretty much sell the same sheite. You find one, you pretty much found them all.

I saw The Decalogue 10 dvd set by Krzysztof Kieslowski which was only 25$ (wow) at TechnoMart. I was going to buy it but I already own it at home in the United states. |

The police have started busting these places left and right. Sales of illegal DVDs in Yongsan has dropped dramatically in recent weeks. Thye are still there, but won't sell you illegal copies. My buddy can barely find places to buy them. I don't buy them, because they are often of dubious quality.
My uni has a huge library of movies on DVD, so I just check 'em out and watch that way. Five at a time, and I can keep 'em for 4 days ... woo hooo! |

The people in Hyewha/Daehangno are awful... terrible movie quality and as my friend says, 1 in 4 aren't even the movie he wanted. |

Just got back from Yongsan. Pirated DVD salesmen everywhere. Queues of army people buying them.
The pirate software guy was absent though. |
