I've been in country a month this Saturday and this weekend I want to go to Seoul. I've been out in the boonies since I got here and hadn't seen Seoul. What a guy to do for the weekend in Seoul? whats a good hotel? |

Don't stay in a "good" hotel like the Hilton or Westin. Stay in a "yeogwan," or love motel, for 30,000 a night. Spend you money at rockin' bars and clubs.
During the day: Museums, palaces, parks, markets (Namdaemun market is a good one), shopping (Dongdaemun Stadium is the place for skyscraper malls).
During the night: Itaewon if you miss hearing English spoken or if you want skanky girls, Sinchon or Hongik University (Hongdae) if you want to party with locals, expats and uni students, Gangnam if you want to hit on pretentious, spoiled girls and pay high prices for drinks, Seoul Station if you want to hit on homeless women. |

Good post ^. I definitely second the 'stay in a love motel' advice. They are everywhere and good value with clean comfortable rooms for about 40-60,000 won.
Also, go to Itaewon station, come out of exit 4. Just before you get to Dunkin Donuts take a left to a side street up a hill. Lots of stunning women up there.
You might want to bring some extra cash with you.
And a few rubbers. |

That's great and all but I was hoping for some must see sights. Also by nice hotel I meant a nice cheap and near a hot spot for some fun( with out some juicy girl trying to suck the life out of me and not in a good way if you get my drift.) |

Only go to Itaewon on Sunday around midday. Do your western shopping there and spend about 70 000 won on western food. Other than that don't spend any more time there or Hongdae, especially the evenings. Craphole!
Knock about in Sincheon or around Ehwa Womens University in the evenings. Or on par with that is Hyehwa, loads of nice bars around there. |

Seriously, I don't know about other areas, but if you look around Gangnam Station exit 1 there are a few motels that are comfortable enough for a good price (40-60K).
But basically, if you look around and see a place with lots of neon lights and curtains to the car park --- it's a love motel. That's what you want for your price range. Seriously. They are usually comfortable, clean and well kept. Not the seedy sort of place you might expect.
Other posters probably have better options.
BTW: I hope you realize my last post was not serious. Don't go up that hill. |

I agree with everything except that Hongdae is a craphole. There are really crappy places, like Harlem or Tinpan, but Hongdae has the best live music clubs, unique bars and tons of happy-go-lucky locals and expats. |

Where ? I've wandered around and found my way to tinpan...which was shiiiite. I'm not much impressed with Itaewon. I find the place insanely dull and quite undeserving of it's "debauched" reputation. Yes somehow it still manages to be full of idiots. So if I can't find decent debauchery I may as well hang with functioning human beings. |

Hongik University in Hongdae is having some sort of Festival this weekend from what my friend told me. I went to the one they had last year. Every department there had a tent set up and you could go from tent to tent and meet University students. I spent the night in the fine arts departments tent, staying out of the rain, talking about art and design, being a geek, yeah. It was fun. |
