Well unlike most of you probably, I will (probably) be teaching in sk through EPIK. I was just wondering if anybody knows if there are opportunities to make money outside of your daily contractual hours. I have read a lot on here about tutoring, but only if you have a F5 visa or something (which I won't have). Are there lots of opportunities to teach during the night time at other schools? Camps? I donno, I am just hoping to rake in a little $ when I might have some free time. |

Don't be afraid about doing part time work. But I would wait until you know your way around stuff before looking for other types of work.
If you are considered a good teacher and you can handle yourself in the classroom, then people will start approaching you about doing part-time tutoring and if the school administration likes you and you do a good job there, sometimes they will look the other way regarding part time work.
But if the school administration doesn't like you or if they think you are not doing so well.....then what spliff said could happen....... |

Well, when I first arrived I thought I'd just work my contract hours and that's all. But I soon ended up with afternoon classes at my public school as well as private lessons for some of the other teachers. I've even had to turn down extra work because it was getting too much, even though the money was good.
OP I wouldn't worry too much about this before you arrive. You'll probably have more than enough on your plate within a month or two of arriving. |

Nobody teaches privates in South Korea. Remember that. You
should be a shining example of mighty whitey western culture
just like most Koreans are brilliant examples of theirs. |
