When you cook pasta or rice, you can freeze some of it. I cook a big pot of pasta and eat my dinner. I cool off the pasta with some cold water and add a little oil to keep it from sticking together. Once it dries a little, I put a serving into a cheap plastic food bag, spin it closed and then repeat. I put all of them in the freezer. Anytime I want pasta, I just run a bag under some water to loosen the bag, then put the pasta in a strainer and run some water over it to break it up. Then I just pour some boiling water over it and it is good to go.

They keep in good shape for a few weeks in the freezer.

Imagine how you would be perceived if you were caught doing this by a co-worker?

Try to make a little effort and get your free water from a mountain spring. You'll get the extra benefit of (free) exercise.

tongue was in cheek, y'know. but I'd still rather get water from work than a mountain stream that every Korean and his dog has spit and pissed into, respectively...

Ahh..but where do you think that water at work comes from? Laughing

The best way to save money anywhere is to plan and to keep track of your spending.

Plan your meals for the week before you go shopping, you won't have random things go bad in your fridge and you won't end up going out all the time becuase you have nothing to eat or can't think of anything. If you plan your meals ahead you can find some good recipies online and make some fantastic meals.

Keep track of all the money you spend in a spread sheet. This way you will see some places where you could cut back and you will find that you automatically adjust your spending without having to set a budget for yourself.

1. Don't order any kind of cable and just download torrents. If you want to watch on your TV, buy the cables to hook it up for like W40,000.

2. (Extereme Ghettoness Alert!) Don't buy water. Your school has a cooler. Just fill up a big bottle whenever you need it and take it home.

Yes, I am a Jew.

1. Only eat one meal a day
2. Walk everywhere even for distances that most people will take 10 - 30 minute taxi / bus rides for.

I skipped a few so I hope these haven't been posted yet:

- cut your own hair, or

- let it grow wild (saves the expense of a hat or cap in Winter), or

- go English and shave your head

- steal better shoes at Korean style restaurants if you have small feet

- same way to get umbrellas

- don't invite colleagues to a night at a room salon (set me back 1.7 mil the first and last time I did that Crying or Very sad )

- avoid the buffet dinner at the Hyatt, or at least check the menu for prices before you order (although it does impress your date if you just go for it)

But there's actually some good advice here, and some really funny sh*t as well.

I hope you got more at your room salon than I did at mine, cause that is a ton of money.

I have some advice and I'm not even there yet. If you want to communicate with someone back home (without email or IM) you can use IP-relay.com. basically you type the phone number of the person back home, an operator calls the number, you then type whatever you want the operator to say. She says it and then relays whatever message back. You can do this aslong as you want, and it's completely free.

1. don't shop for vegetables at the stores. instead look for trees / bushes in your neighborhood. cut some leaves off of it, boil it, then eat it with salt.

2. don't get a cell phone, instead walk and deliver your message in person. it may take a couple of days to communicate some simple messages with friends that live across town, but you'll save money.
