Sineface,

I live in Itaewon and I walk her all over that area. I'll definitely be at the benefit tonight and if I can, I'll bring the "Beast" with me.

I really wanted to come tonight, and would have brought her with me, but I have an early flight to China tomorrow so can't do it Sad . We live about an hour north on the subway, but I try and bring her down as often as I can to play with other dogs. She's getting somewhat, what can I call it, cattified. Our youngest cat and Lilah are inseparable, and her favourite toy is a little red ball of yarn (I'm not even shitting you). Lets get them together!

I hope I can make it myself - I feel sick as a dog right now (bad sprouts, I think ...)

It was a great night! I was there all night and would say we had 125 - 150 people through the door between 8pm until it closed at 2am.

Pics of the event (together with photos from our weekly trips to Daejeon from Seoul, videos of the shelter and links to some articles / publicity) are on our website at http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28
You can also see photos of many of the adoptable shelter dogs at http://www.animalrescuekorea.org/forums/showthread.php?t=549

We raised around 2.6 million won to help us with the cost of the dogs' food and veterinary care, which is a great result - we are really grateful to everyone who was generous enough to come along on the night, who donated separately, helped organise the event or who were kind enough to to perform (The Forty Days, UR Seoul, Dave Gwyther, Seth Martin & Zee).

Unfortunately it looks like the extension we received from Feb to the end of June will be the last one the Daejeon council is prepared to give us regardless of how many dogs are left then. That area of Daejeon is under redevelopment (there have been huge graders digging up the road a couple of hundred metres from Mrs Jung's farm for the past month or two) and it looks like both the council and the owner of the farm want Mrs Jung and her dogs to leave asap.

At the moment we don't have any other options for Mrs Jung's dogs - we have been trying to find somewhere else we can rent for Mrs Jung and the 89 dogs remaining at her farm, but obviously that's not an easy proposition. We have sent a letter to the council asking if we can rent some of their unused land for a year to give us time to rehome the remaining dogs but we have not formally heard back from them yet (I understand this is unlikely).

So between now and the end of June what we really need assistance with is:
- please please pass the word around to anyone who may be interested in adopting or fostering a dog (obviously we would need to make sure any adopters are able to care for the dog here in Korea and will be taking the dog home with them if they are not staying in Korea permanently);
- we still need volunteers to accompany us on our weekly trips to the shelter from Seoul (we meet at Seoul station at 8.30am every Saturday morning) we spend the day walking and socialising the dogs, giving them baths, cleaning etc
- while we are pursuing the possible leasing of land from the Daejeon council, anyone who has any other ideas s to where we may be able to relocate Mrs Jung and her dogs please let me know. It will be expensive to move this many dogs (and her greenhouse) but it's better than sending them to the local kill shelters.

I can be contacted at [email protected] or my mobile 010 8940 5233 in relation to the weekly trips or any queries re the shelter or individual dogs.
