What I heard.

His mom went into the women's sauna. He went into the men side. The sauna owner called the morgue hours later because he figured the kid was dead. He wasn't. But, by the time the teen got to the hospital - he was dead. Nobody helped him in the sauna?

any thoughts?

Group mentality sometimes stifles a sense of personal responsibility.

That said, I once slipped on the floor of a shower room and almost smacked my head on a sharp stone stairway. The fact that 3 naked and concerned ajosshis were immediately standing over me saying "Koenchanayo?? Aieego??" was surreal and discomforting enough to lead me to quickly rise up and say "Neh, neh, koenchanayo!!" When I signed out, the staff repeatedly apologized with sincerity. The next day there was a coarse rubber mat set in place. Very very hospitable.

Situations rely on context, and I highly doubt that the people in the sauna didn't care. They were caught like deer in headlights and didn't think to react in time, I reckon.

From what I understand, he was still alive when he got to the hospital. His pupils still dilated and he showed other signs of hope, yet the incompetent staff did not make much effort to keep him going. That's one of the most shocking aspects of this horrible tragedy, to me. The incompetence and/or indifference of the medical staff on hand.
