The Washington Post reports from Obama's rally in Portland, Oregon:

Sen. Barack Obama has seen his share of large crowds over the last 15 months, but his campaign said they have not approached the numbers gathered along the waterfront here right now.

The campaign, citing figures from Duane Bray, battalion chief of Portland Fire & Rescue, estimated that 75,000 people are watching him speak.

Ah, to be in Portland, now that spring is here. Or in my own domicile of 25+ years, Seattle, now that the Folklife Festival is here (Memorial Day weekend).

Or even to be in some "almost Heaven" sort of place where the generally kind (though understandably fearful) poor, under-uneducated, elderly, white folks (like most of my relatives back in the South) who make a lot of the electorate there are fearful of putting a Negro in charge. God knows what sort of madness would ensue. (Hell, there might be pimping and drug dealing going on right in the White House. That's what people like Rush and the Hate Machine have been telling them for decades now anyway.)

Places like that have a lot going for them, but watch out if the populace ever find out who's really responsible for their misery.

Man, Portland used to be a beautiful place. Now look at the droves of incompetent dregs it pulls out for this filth.

Ahhh, not so fast. Wasn't that speech preceeded by a free concert by a very popular band?
And just out of amused curiosity, isn't that band, the Decemberists, known for using the national anthem of the former soviet union as an introduction at their concerts?
