Right, I'm starting a band, I am, and I need a drummer and bassist.
At this point I no longer remember or care who my influences are, but I've written (half-finished) a load of songs that sound a bit like The Fall and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and the Boo Radleys and Th' Faith Healers and, I dunno, indie-punky-funky stuff really. With a bit of Krautrock repetition in it. And punk. I like the idea of punk, anyway...
Ideally I'd like a drummer that's pretty competent and solid with the ability to chuck something unexpected in now and then, and a bassist who's competent enough to play slap (very) occasionally and maybe even sub on guitar when I really can't do that and sing at the same time.
I will not be doing any Guns N' Roses covers. Or Green Day. Not ever. That's not cool with me.
I live in Paju, Gyoha specifically, and I own a bass, guitar, and a couple of small amps. I have plenty of space at mine, though undoubtedly it's be best to go play in a rehearsal studio for a hundred obvious reasons. If you know where any are. I don't.
If anyone's interested, and I pray to every diety that I don't believe in that somebody must be, please call me (010-3143-1876), reply to this thread, PM me, stab me with a fork with a note of interest attached it to it, something. I need a band. You probably do, too. We're gonna be, like, good |

With a name like Dukus I have to ask myself if you are serious or not. Maybe you are? Maybe not? I play bass. |

Yes, I'm serious. The name isn't, though it'd be a very long haul to explain why I bothered keeping it. Perverted By Language is indeed superb - though my favorite of all is probably Grotesque - an absolute corruption of the Velvet Underground and sundry counry influences....what's yer bass ability like, Lekker, and where are you at? |

I'm in Seoul. I've been playing for 18 years now. I'm 28. I like to play a lot of heavier type stuff, weird psychedelic type stuff.

That's my band from Philly a few years back. |

I dig yer band a lot - they're like a slowed-down and more accessible Lightening Bolt in a weird sort of way - I do wonder whether you'd want to play my sort of deformed-pop shoegazer punky-funky things, but it would be worth a shot at hooking up, you've clearly got a lot of ability. Which bit of Seoul are you in? |

Hey man, Lightning Bolt are amazing. Wonderful Rainbow is their best work. 2 Towers is their best track on there. I've seen them many times. I live around Hongdae. |

Excellent - I can get to Hongdae in about an hour 30 by bus/subway, much less time by taxi (which is roughly 30,000). When are you free and stuff? Do you know any drummers/rehearsal spaces/other useful things? I intend to keep this a 3-piece, by the way - much easier to tune up/arrange songs/manage egos/tweak the sound/etc etc etc... |

bump in the hope that Lekker or someone replies. Don't be put off by the distance, I'm quite used to getting into shinchon and hongdae on a regular basis, and before Korea I spent 8 years of gigging and practising on public transport.. |

Yes, but the fact that I have no rhythm makes it rather pointless. |

I can play drums, yes - I'm not the most solid and I haven'tplayed in a while, but I played them in a band for a while and can do some moderately good stuff on them given some practice.
edit: we have a PM from a drummer. awesome. do you think you're onboard for a jam then Lekker? I'll try and finish/semi-throw together a couple of tracks if so. |
