Hi
I would appreciate some advice on working in Korea. I have been searching through the forum but cannot get a definitive answer.
I am a qualified teacher (Primary, not TEFL) and was hoping to travel to Korea and find work once I arrived. I was advised that this would be possible, but now with the visa changes I dont know if it is possble. Crying or Very sad
I am aware that new stipulations are in place that requests a medical cert, garda vetting and an interview in your hometown. Could I try and do this before I leave and then try and get a job when I arrive in Korea or would I have to have a job lined up beforehand?
Any advice regarding this would be much appreciated.
Is there anybody out there who ahs arrived in Korea without a job? How did you find it?
Thanks!

Short answer....

IF you have previously had an E2 AND no immigration violations in Korea this is do-able.

IF you have NOT previously had an E2 OR you have an immigration violation this is NOT possible. You have to have a consular interview in your home country before you can work here.

Wrong - There is nothing stopping you from coming here having a look around and sorting a job. Then go home and have you interview.

On that note I have not heard of anyone who had to return home for their interview. I have heard that it is up to the discretion of immigration.

There are a myriad of answers and combinations which is why I noted: "SHORT ANSWER".

WE all know that immigration CAN make exceptions to their own rules but we also KNOW that you CANNOT count on any individual being made the exception.

With the current price of air tickets for transpac flights.... it could be costly either way and you cannot be assured of being allowed a visa run to a 3rd country.
