|
|
Hi,
I got an offer for a summer job (June 9- August 29) at a hagwon. I've bought my ticket and arranged my plans for my departure on June 7th. However, the person in charge told me that it'll take 2-3 weeks to process my work visa, and I need to postpone my departure.
1. Can I enter Korea on a tourist visa first, then switch to work visa? How would that work?
2. Do I really need a work visa for a 3-month stint?
I really don't want to change my departure date now- changing flight will cost me money and I've had everything planned around that date. The peson in charge is slow in getting back to me so I'm asking here. Sort of panicky now. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks! |

You cannot obtain a work visa from within Korea. You cannot change your status from tourist to work visa while you are inside Korea (unless you marry a Korean first).
IF you show up here you will need to leave the country to get your work visa.
You may be required to attend a consular interview in your home country before a work visa is issued.
YES, you need a work visa for even just that short period. Working while not having one is a crime and would subject you to a myriad of problems if you are caught. |

You'll need an E4 visa.
Be wared that with this visa you will be taxed at 25%.
You need to get the visa BEFORE you come to Korea. |
