That's an important point. When around 30% of the available women (or men) are overweight or obese, that severely limits the dating options.

In a normal country like Korea, that means one is roughly 30% less likely to be spanking it at home.

Honestly, I have never been bitter towards white men here. I just mostly see average or below average looking white men who have dated or are dating average or below average looking Korean women.

When it comes to dating it wasn't that hard for a western woman to date here in Korea. (I am not the type to complain and blame my dating problems on other people) You don't have to be a super model, or slutty, just dress nice and be outgoing and interesting. If a dumb white guy can do it why can't I? Laughing

I do have a lot of respect for men who have families and are raising mixed race children here. Housing, food, schooling for the kids - it all seems so expensive.

As far as fat Americans go I suspect in richer urban centres you can meet a lot of thin women. If you live out in a small town in an economically depressed region you might be SOL.

Define western women. Can Asians be categorized as either western women or western men? My Korean-American friend told me that asians either born and raised in the west are more like westernized asians but not just westerners. I always associated the term 'westerner' with caucasions.

I don't equate "Western" with "white."

The obvious certainly doesn't need to be stated here. The stat I referenced states that 30.6% of Americans are obese. This means that (a) the stat includes men and women, (b) not every American is fat. (a) and (b) are known a priori. The stat contains this information. If I say "25% of Koreans are called Kim" it shouldn't need to be pointed out that it includes men and women and that not every Korean is called Kim.

The point I was trying to make is that BMI is a very crude diagnostic tool. It doesn't take into account muscle mass. A trained athlete will fall into the higher unhealthy BMI range becasue muscle mass weighs more then fat. A thin person who keeps thin by smoking but not by exercising has less muscle mass then healthy. Those people would fall into a healthy BMI even though their lifestyle is unhealthy and they are skinny-fat.

Perhaps BMI cannot be trusted to give us a clear picture of obesity in the US and other countries.

The stat's source is the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Do you actually have any concrete evidence that the scientists and experts at the OECD are in error? Are the numbers of athletes, for example, in the 30.6% of Americans (24.7% of Brits, etc) statistically significant? Health experts all seem to favor the view that America and other Western countries have a serious problem with obesity and you don't appear to have anything other than conjecture to the contrary.

We know there are still thin people in the US. If a person makes the claim "30.6% of Americans are obese", he knows, everyone ought to know, that this means 69.4% of Americans are not obese.

Canada and Ireland have the most impressive rates of obesity in the West, but still, Korea's rate is 25% of that of Canada's.

So Canada's rate is impressive by the standards of the West, but rather poor by the standards of Korea.

I like the free minded ones. Some are westernized and some aren't. The bottom line is free minded ones hate the societal constraints of any country. This way I don't have to buy a lot of furniture.
