Hi all. I have been pouring over the threads regarding people who actually DO have Hep B. Since I was born in Korea, I contracted it from my birth mother. Bummer, I know.

Regardless, I had applied for a well-known program sponsored by the US and recognized by the Korean Ministry of Education. I got accepted and inquired more about my situation, not wanting to get to Korea, then being deported back to the US.

It looks like now, I won't be accepted in to the program.

Since I'm an adoptee and my name is registered as the family head in Korea, does that make me eligible for an F4 visa?

Also, is it futile to even try for a job in Korea, given my Hep B situation???

Holla Back, it'd be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

That sucks. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Sorry, I don't have an answer for you about the F4, though.

I don't remember going through a health check to get an F-4 so i don't know why you bring up the Hep B, but i know many adoptees with F-4 Visas.

Some that also unfortunately never found their biological parents.

But the adoption agency can help you obtain one.

I think the question would be if you are contagious or not. I test positive for Hep B antiboties and it has never been mentioned, although I'm an F2 visa which may explian things. When I had surgery was the only time they've ever inquired about my Hep B status and only wondered if I was currently in a active state or whatever you call it.

on an F-2 or F-4 you are required to do a medical check if you will be working for a public position (ex public school). It is required by the school.

If you want to work at a public school you do not need to have a medical record check.

Apply for the F4. No medical is required.

After getting your F4, look around. But, if you do apply for a public school they will want you to go for a medical. All public school teachers get one done every few years. All contract teachers get checked every year.

Skconquer, did you mean "if you want to work at a PRIVATE school?" Because it looks like all public schools run medical tests.

I'm a chronic carrier...not "that" kind of chronic...However, my levels are nearly normal. Basically, I test positive and it's contagious from me.
