This kid in one of my sections reads English aloud with what I can only describe as no accent. I have an accent - North American Standard. It's the accent you hear on the news, the accent that Dan Rather needed to acquire if he were ever to make it big (he's from Texas). But this kid - nothing. It's like someone took the phonemes, put them into a computer, added algorithms for pitch and tone, and gave it text. It doesn't sound like SAM, it sounds like... well, nothing. It sounds like nothing. It's cool as hell. I should try to get a recording.

Ah, grown men behaving like idiots on TV. I suppose that's what TV is for.

Wow, that's cute, Koreans of all generations butchering one of the world's most beloved songs. Great find.

Well, I'm baffled. I fail to see how his English is good; shortened vowel sounds, sometimes entirely missing consonants.....in what way is his pronunciation good?

For those exact above reasons: shortened vowels and missing word endings, you would have to say that he exhibits a northern Asian accent. Not your classic and oft parodied Bushe or l(wr)ong and l(r)ight, but Asian nonetheless. It is not neutral.

Franz.

Star King. Every Korean mother's dream. Kid's mother probably brought him to a Prenatal English Academy where Hey Jude was played continously. After birth, while his father worked 16 hours days and his mother watched Star King, he was left in a room with 20 other 1 year olds, listening to the Beatles.

Thats how.

He hits those R's, I'll give him that. Well, at least some of them "to make it bettuh..."

Why does everyone save God's chosen people (Americans) avoid saying their R's?

i heard somewhere that our accent is from the irish. who also pronounce their Rs.

i heard a quote from Jimmy Carr, i'll paraphrase since i don't remember the exact quote: "In England, I don't have an accent. This is how words sound when you pronounce them properly."
