I (and every other teacher in Korea, seemingly) have a week's holiday at the end of July. Airfares in the region seem really expensive, and I'd like to see more of Korea outside Seoul anyway.

However, I've been told by Koreans that so many people take holidays at this time that most of the local tourist destinations, especially the beaches, are ridiculously crowded.

Does anyone have suggestions about the best places to go within Korea at this time of year? Especially anywhere nice that won't be overrun. Off the beaten track would be great.
