And why is it that whenever a thread comes up about god! It gets high jacked by the Dawkin Dip Chits!! And then turned into a war!
And whenever anyone comes in to oppose their thoughts the name calling begins!!
Basically I am dealing with children!
Children who will not read between the lines! And not admit chit!!!
Let me tell you one more time so it gets through your thick skulls!!!
There is not enough evidence or lack of evidence to disprove or prove if god exists or doesn�t exist!!!

we all only personal opinions and thats all!! their is no right or wrong as of 2008!!!
That�s why we have 4 billion people believing in god!
And maybe 50 million people who are atheists!!

You have never read Darwin, Dawkins, or even the Bible. I know you've never read the Bible, or any secondary academic literature touching on the history and/or context in which it was written, or how christianity evolved over the centuries. You know f-k all about it. Sunday school (while probably the only schooling you ever received in your life) does not count.
All you are is an illiterate know-nothing, unworthy to participate in this discussion. Some others who are christians on here are not even a fraction as stupid or embarrassing as you. At least they (presumably) have read books and have an education.

Growing up in ITALY, and having catholic Italian parents, yeah I have no idea!!!
My grandparents who were scientists for UNESCO and wrote hundred�s of science books, with PhDs in physics and biology! Yeah I have never heard of DARWIN or read him!!!
Next time I am in the library I will be sure to look in the fiction section where you hang out!!!!

After you master punctuation, you may want to think about paragraphing. Then we can talk about books and what they mean.
Dawkins is a good man with a powerful argument. Disagree, please do: but on rational grounds. All you are doing is yelling, yelling, yelling. If you wish to be respected, tone down they emotionalism and open your mind a bit.
I don't think you looked at the links I set up about Russell's Tea Pot, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Do try to understand these points. They reveal something very important about reasoning that can be of use to use in many areas of life and thought.
But, I'm afraid that you are so busy yelling that you will have a very, very hard time learning this point.
Has it, for example, occured to you that an atheist's world view can be a beautiful and amazing one? More amazing that all of the miracles of religion? |

That argument only exists because English (and some other languages) uses the same word for god (some type of spirit) as God (for lack of a better definition let's say 'a theoretical being that created the universe'), and because monotheists will often confuse the two as well. A pantheistic 'god' is as close to the other word 'God' as this bottle of water next to me is to the ocean. English confuses the two concepts though.
Maybe it's the fault of the original monotheists who thought it would be a good idea to use the same word the pantheists used to say something along the lines of 'hey, we're talking about the same thing you are when you talk about your river god and tree goods and all the rest; ours is just bigger and better'. |

I agree that there is a problem by using the same word for the different ideas.
But the F.S.M. has more to do with the burden of proof. Someone makes a claim, it is their burden to prove it true before it is any skeptics burden to prove it wrong.
Jesus is the Only Begotten Son of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Prove me that I'm wrong. You cannot. Therefore, my claim is rational. . .even on equal grounds with science. So, there is really no problem in giving equal time to teaching about Intelligent Design in the classroom, since the science clearly shows that there is intelligence at work in nature. Prove me wrong. I've got tradition on my side--except the spaghetti bit. |

You draw conclusions based on your cringeworthy ignorance, which is about a million times deeper than the rest of ours. It's easy to see what a flake like you is all about and know what you know, but you lack even a fraction of the knowledge that I or others have. The word itself (something that flies, something made of spaghetti, something that is a monster) there is a description that makes it quantifiable. The word God (and here we're talking about your standard monotheistic God, not necessarily a Christian or Muslim or any other type so let's not change the subject to Christianity) means something along the lines of 'that which existed before the universe and time, and is beyond it'. Like I said, the two concepts are not even remotely related which is why FSM is a bit of a lazy argument. The only use I can see for it is when monotheists start to treat their religion as if it were pantheistic, that is, that their god helps them to win football games, helps them pay their taxes, and at the same time deserves to be gotten angry at when things go bad even though they were well aware of how the universe worked when things were going well. You know, the idea that God is a big fairy that helps you out when you're in a bind. |
