hey all,

i was wondering if you think it could be a good idea to move to korea first and then find a job there. i have a friend i could stay with while doing this and perhaps just find a possibl list of hagwons in the area and go up to them personally. does anyone think this is a good idea or bad idea? would the hagwon reimburse me for the plane ticket i used to go to korea with? i just thought maybe it could be easier to go down there and even ask the teachers personally about their experiences. anyone think that the hagwons in Kangnam may be good or bad? any advice? thanks!

Ed

Unless you have had a previous E2 visa it is not even possible anymore.

ALL new E2 applications MUST have a consular interview in their home country AFTER being issued a "visa confirmation number" and BEFORE being issued a visa.

It is unlikely that a hakwon would pay your way here, pay to send you home for the interview and visa application, then pay to bring you back again - especially before you ever work a day in the classroom.
